Rajasthan State Board explained, for parents

• RBSE / BSER, Ajmer – the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan. This body affiliates secondary schools, designs the examination framework, and conducts the Secondary examination at Class 10 and the Senior Secondary examination at Class 12.
• RSCERT, Udaipur – the State Institute of Educational Research and Training. It sets curriculum standards, develops syllabuses and trains teachers, working through district institutes.
• State textbook board – publishes and distributes the prescribed textbooks used throughout Rajasthan.

The practical consequence: for eight years, your interaction with the system is entirely through the school and its books. From Class 9 onward, the Ajmer board becomes visible, and the standard for what counts as a good answer shifts accordingly.

Classes 1 to 5 include Hindi, English, Mathematics and an environmental studies subject. From Class 6 onwards, Science and Social Science branch into separate subjects, and a third language typically appears as well.

Two specific factors about Rajasthan schools shape what tuition means here. The first is geography: many children attend schools where accessing a good subject teacher outside school hours is genuinely difficult, which is much of why online tuition took root in this region. The second is the role of English. In a primarily Hindi-medium school day, English is a second language taught as a subject, and it requires proper teaching - from sounds and sentence patterns upward - rather than being assumed half-known.

Rajasthan has opened English-medium government schools across the state. Two children in the same town, both on the state syllabus, might sit in classrooms speaking different languages entirely.

Here's what happens when your child moves from a Hindi-medium school to an English-medium one: she does not lose her Mathematics. But she can lose the ability to discuss it. The words in the question become the hurdle before the mathematics does. That is a real, specific problem - mastering subject vocabulary in English - and it is quite different from learning English in general.

It is also the single most useful thing to establish in a first class, because what your child needs at three months into English medium looks nothing like what she would need had she been in it since Class 1.

• Books. RBSE schools use the state textbook board's textbooks; CBSE schools use NCERT. Since chapter order and emphasis differ, tutoring must follow your child's actual book, not a national standard.
• Medium. RBSE government schools are predominantly Hindi medium, though English-medium government schools exist; CBSE schools are mostly English medium. This distinction changes what an English class actually teaches.
• Examination. RBSE conducts the Class 10 Secondary examination; CBSE conducts its own. Neither board examines before Class 10.

Rajasthan's competitive-coaching culture at the senior end is particularly strong, and it sometimes pushes families into exam-preparation habits earlier than is actually useful. For Class 1 through 10, what truly pays off is understanding and written clarity, not premature cramming.
