Most online teaching work is a screen of thirty faces or a one-off doubt session with a child you will never meet again. This is neither. You take one child at a time, you keep the same children, and you teach from their own school textbook - so you are helping with Thursday's test rather than delivering someone else's curriculum.

We are a small operation with 14 years of classroom teaching behind it, and we would rather have one conversation with you than put you through a funnel.

One child at a time
Every class is one-to-one. Nobody hides, and you can pitch the whole class at the one child in front of you.
Their textbook, not ours
You teach from the child's own school book and syllabus. Parents come to us precisely because it matches what school is doing this week.

You keep your children. You will know by week three which of them needs the question asked a second way.

What does a class actually look like?

One child, live on video, at least an hour, and sometimes ninety minutes or two hours. You teach from the child's own school textbook rather than our material, because the whole promise to parents is that it matches what their child is doing at school this week. You keep the same children week to week, which is the part most teachers say they value - you see the same child improve rather than meeting a new face every session.

What do you look for?

Real teaching experience with the age group you want to teach, and the ability to hold one child's attention over video for a whole class, which is a genuinely different skill from a classroom of forty. A degree in the subject matters less to us than whether you can spot the moment a child has stopped following. We ask for a demo class with real children, paid, before anything is confirmed.

What are the hours?

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings, because that is when children in India are free. You set the slots you can commit to and we build the timetable around them, but the one thing we ask for is consistency - a child who loses her teacher mid-term is the single worst thing that can happen to a child's confidence.

What does it pay?

We discuss it in the first conversation rather than publishing a figure, and we would rather say that plainly than post a number we would then have to qualify. It depends on the stage, the subject and how many classes you take. If a published rate is what you need before you talk to anyone, we understand - the job boards will serve you better than we will.

Do I need my own equipment?

A laptop with a working camera, a stable connection and a quiet room. A writing tablet helps a great deal for maths and science and we will talk about it, but do not buy one before you have spoken to us.

Which subjects and languages do you need most?

Kannada, Hindi and Maths are where demand is currently ahead of supply, and Kannada most of all - parents in Karnataka search for it by name more than for anything else. Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu are all taught here too, and a first-language teacher for any of them is always worth a conversation.
