Home tuition in Bengaluru for Class 1 to 5
Home tuition in Bengaluru is the one part of Skoolur that is not online. A teacher comes to you, teaches a group of one to three children face to face, and works from whatever your child’s school is covering that week. It is limited to Class 1 to 5, and to parts of South and East Bengaluru, because one person can only be in one place at a time.
For a six or seven year old who cannot yet sit still in front of a screen, that matters. Younger children need someone at the table who can see the page, turn it round, and put a finger on the word they skipped. Everything else we teach - Class 6 to 10, every subject, every board - is taught online, and taught well.
Bengaluru also has a specific problem that makes evening tuition harder than it sounds. The city is the third slowest in the world to drive across, at an average of 34 minutes to cover 10 km in the centre. Sending a Class 3 child out for a second commute after school is a real cost. Either the teacher travels, or the class does not.

Start with the school book
We don't run a parallel syllabus. We start with what came home from your child's school that week, making the connection immediate.
Read aloud, every time
In a three-child group, every student reads aloud during each session. This is the whole point of keeping the group small.
Two minutes with you at the end
What worked well, what could improve, and one particular thing to practise before the next class. This happens face-to-face in real time, not as a monthly written form.

Where in-person is the wrong answer
We would rather turn down a booking than take one that will not work. In these cases online is genuinely the better choice, and cheaper:
- Class 6 and above. Subject specialists matter more than proximity by then, and the right Science teacher is unlikely to live nearby.
- You are outside the areas listed. A teacher stuck in Bengaluru traffic arrives late, tired, and eventually stops coming.
- You want a specific weekly slot in the evening peak. Travel makes that fragile. Online holds a fixed time far more reliably.
- Budget is tight. A small online batch costs substantially less and, for most children past Class 3, works just as well.

Home tuition is the dearest thing we offer, and it should be: it is one teacher, in your house, for one child or a very small group, with travel time nobody else is paying for. The fee moves with the class because a Class 9 board year is not a Class 2 year.

Honestly
In person, or online? A straight answer
In-person costs more and we have very few seats, so it is worth being blunt about when it is genuinely the better choice and when it is simply the more expensive one.
In person is worth it when…
- For Class 1 to 3 children, sustained attention through a whole lesson is still developing. A teacher physically present is harder to ignore than an image on screen.
- The difficulty lies with writing—letter formation, maths working, and answer sheet presentation. Correcting these aspects through video proves challenging.
- No suitable quiet spot exists at home for an online session, or the household internet becomes unreliable during class time.
- If the assessment indicates your child needs more physical support than a screen provides, and school recognizes this already, then we're not suitable.
Online is the better buy when…
- From Class 6 onward, the curriculum is primary. A teacher specialising in that board's material matters far more than where they teach from.
- A subject specialist is essential. While we can locate a Class 10 Chemistry teacher anywhere in India, we cannot consistently find one willing to travel to your address.
- Schedules are demanding. With no commute, a 7pm weekday class works because no one needs to leave early.
- It makes more sense to direct that difference towards additional monthly classes than towards teacher travel.
If you are not sure, say so in the free assessment and the teacher will tell you which they would pick for your child. It is a short conversation and we would rather have it than sell you the dearer option by default.

What areas of Bengaluru does your service include?
In-person teaching runs out of HSR Layout, so it realistically covers South and East Bengaluru - HSR Layout, Koramangala, BTM, Bellandur, Sarjapur Road, Electronic City and the Whitefield side. If you are further out we will say so rather than promise a teacher who then cancels.
Why only Class 1 to 5 in person?
Because that is what can be taught well face to face by the teachers who travel. Class 6 to 10 demands subject specialists, and matching a Class 9 student to the appropriate Physics or Maths teacher works far better online than by geography. We would rather be honest about that than sell you a nearby teacher who is wrong for the subject.
How many seats are there?
Not many. In-person classes hold one to three children, and because a teacher can occupy only one location at a time, classes fill quickly and are often full. If no space is available, we'll tell you directly rather than adding you to an endless waiting list.
Is in-person more effective than online for young children?
Not automatically. For a Class 1 or 2 child who cannot yet sit still on a call, in person genuinely helps. For a child who is comfortable with a screen, online live classes work just as well and cost less. We will tell you which we think suits your child after the assessment, even when that is the cheaper answer.
What does in-person home tuition cost?
Will your lessons follow my child's school syllabus?
Yes. We ask what the school is covering that week and work alongside it rather than running a parallel course. That works for CBSE, ICSE and the Karnataka State board - Bengaluru has all three within a few kilometres of each other, and children move between them more often than people expect.
