Overview

What this school actually is, and who governs it

Sharjah Indian School runs two campuses, and this is not the older one. The parent school sits at Al Ghubaiba under CBSE affiliation 6630005 and SPEA licence 174; this branch is at Juwaiza under affiliation 6630102 and SPEA licence 202. They share a governing body - the Indian Association Sharjah - a PO Box and a brand, which is exactly why families arrive at the wrong gate. The differences are not cosmetic. This campus begins at Class 1 and has no kindergarten at all; the main campus is licensed from KG 1 upward. Each holds its own inspection outcome. Each has its own principal. If you are applying, the affiliation number is the only thing on a form that tells the two apart.

Size is the second thing to understand. The school's CBSE mandatory disclosure puts the roll at 5,543 pupils, broken down as 2,060 in Classes 1 to 4, 2,082 in Classes 5 to 8, 823 in Classes 9 and 10 and 578 in Classes 11 and 12. That makes it one of the largest Indian-curriculum schools in the emirate by a wide margin, and it runs on a single shift across an April-to-March session rather than splitting into morning and afternoon batches as some high-roll schools do. A school of this scale changes the practical questions: section allocation, how a transfer is handled between sections, and how quickly the office answers are worth more of your attention than the marketing.

The branch's own founding story has three dates attached and they are not contradictory, just different milestones. The school records that the Juwaiza branch was formally opened on 22 December 2016, inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Kerala, and that it became functional on 19 February 2018. Its CBSE mandatory disclosure gives the year of establishment as 2018. SPEA's licence for school 202 dates from 17 June 2020. We use 2018 because that is when teaching started and it is what the school files with its own board. Be careful with one thing on the school's website: the sentence about being established in 1979 with 280 pupils and 13 teachers is the parent school's history reproduced on the branch's pages, not this campus's own.

On language, this campus publishes a clear grade-by-grade scheme, and it is one of the better ones in Sharjah for an expatriate family from the south. Classes 1 to 8 offer Hindi or Malayalam alongside compulsory Arabic. Classes 9 and 10 widen to Hindi, French, Malayalam or a Special Arabic route. Neither Tamil nor Urdu appears at any level, and the published subject scheme for Classes 11 and 12 lists no second language at all, which is the norm for CBSE's senior phase. A child who takes Malayalam from Class 1 here can therefore carry it through to the Class 10 board, which is a genuinely uncommon thing to be able to say about a Gulf school.

Fees are where this record turned up something no directory mentions. SPEA publishes an approved fee document on this branch's licence record, and it is identical - the same file content, the same figures, under the parent school's name - to the one it publishes for the Al Ghubaiba campus. In other words the regulator approves one schedule across both campuses rather than pricing the branch separately. The school's own fee page then restates 2026-27 as ten monthly instalments at slightly higher amounts, which is why two ladders appear on this page rather than one. Both sets of numbers sit at the affordable end of the Sharjah market, which is consistent with a community association running the school rather than a commercial operator, although we could find no published statement from the association about a low-fee policy and are not asserting one.

Two admission constraints are specific to this campus and current year, and they matter more than any general advice. For 2026-27 the school stated that admissions were open for Classes 1 to 9 and Class 11 only - so Classes 10 and 12 were closed, as board-examination years usually are, and Class 12 entry closed even to pupils moving up from elsewhere. Selection is by assessment test and interview. And the evidence on the school's own pages points to a boys' campus: its mandatory disclosure records 144 boys' toilets and none for girls, and the 2026-27 registration form is served from a URL that names boys explicitly. Confirm that directly before you apply for a daughter.

Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Sharjah Private Education Authority. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.

What it costs, and where that number comes from

We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.

These are SPEA's approved figures for 2025-26, covering tuition and books, with uniform separate at AED 165. Two things about the document itself are worth knowing. It also carries kindergarten rows at AED 4,015, which this campus does not teach - because the file SPEA publishes on the branch's record is identical to the one on the main Al Ghubaiba campus's record, down to the parent school's name in the heading. One approved schedule covers both campuses. Second, the school's own page states 2026-27 amounts as ten monthly instalments rather than an annual figure: AED 440 a month for Classes 1 and 2, 460 for 3 and 4, 500 for Class 5, 530 for 6 and 7, 535 for Class 8, 545 for Class 9, 585 for Class 10 and 695 for Classes 11 and 12 - a step up from the regulator's 2025-26 ladder. Transport is billed the same way and zoned: AED 300 a month inside Sharjah, 325 to Ajman, 395 to Dubai, 295 to Dhaid. No one-off registration amount is published, so ask for it.

Fee increases are governed by SPEA, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.

Admissions

Getting a seat

Age and timing

Not published. Neither the admissions page nor the 2026-27 admission circular states an age table or a cut-off date, which is a notable omission for a school of this size. As an Indian-curriculum school it sits under the 31 March cut-off rather than the 31 December rule that applies to August-start schools from 2026-27, but the specific ages have to come from the office.

For 2026-27 the school stated that admissions were open for Classes 1 to 9 and Class 11 only, with further updates promised after late July. Classes 10 and 12 were closed. There is no kindergarten intake at this campus at all - a family starting a child in KG has to look at the main campus or elsewhere and transfer in at Class 1.

What to have ready

  • The school publishes no document checklist on its site or in its admission circular - ask the office for the list before you travel to submit anything
  • Expect the standard Sharjah enrolment set: child's passport with visa page and Emirates ID
  • Birth certificate, and an attested transfer certificate for a child moving from another school
  • The previous school's report cards, stamped and signed
  • Immunisation record
  • Copies of both parents' passports, visas and Emirates IDs

The steps, in order

  1. 1.Check which classes are open for the year - this school restricts its intake by grade and publishes that restriction in a circular rather than on the admissions page.
  2. 2.Register through the school's online form, which is hosted on an external school-management platform rather than on the school's own domain.
  3. 3.Sit the assessment test, which the school states is part of selection rather than placement alone.
  4. 4.Attend the interview, the second published selection step.
  5. 5.On an offer, settle the monthly instalment schedule and confirm the transport zone if a bus seat is needed.

Academics

What is taught, and which languages are on offer

Streams at Class 11 and 12

Science and Commerce run at Classes 11 and 12; the school reported a 98 per cent pass rate in both streams for 2025-26 in its own admission circular. No Humanities stream is named. The published senior subject menu spans Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Engineering Graphics on one side and Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Cost Accounting and Entrepreneurship on the other, with Computer Science, Data Science and a computer applications option alongside - but the school does not label which subjects belong to which stream, so ask for the actual combinations offered.

Languages

The scheme is published by grade band, which is rarer than it should be. Classes 1 to 8 take Hindi or Malayalam alongside compulsory Arabic. Classes 9 and 10 choose between Hindi, French, Malayalam and a Special Arabic route. Classes 11 and 12 carry no second language in the published subject scheme. The significant point for a family from Kerala is that Malayalam runs continuously from Class 1 to Class 10 here, so it can be carried to the board examination rather than dropped mid-school. Tamil and Urdu are not offered at any level.

What it is known for

Scale and price together: 5,543 pupils on a single shift at fees starting around AED 440 a month, under an Indian Association Sharjah governance model rather than a commercial operator. The campus is the newer of the association's two, teaching from 2018, and holds a Good inspection band in its own right.

For teachers

Teaching jobs at SIS Juwaiza

Roles this kind of school hires for

  • Class teachers for Classes 1 to 4, the largest block at more than two thousand pupils
  • Middle-school subject teachers for Classes 5 to 8, a second block of comparable size
  • Malayalam and Hindi teachers, since both run continuously from Class 1 to Class 10 here
  • French teacher for the Class 9 and 10 option
  • Arabic teachers, including the Special Arabic route offered at Classes 9 and 10
  • Science and Commerce subject specialists for a senior phase of around 578 pupils

When hiring actually runs

The session runs April to March on a single shift, so recruitment concentrates in January, peaks in March as the year opens and reappears in August after the summer break. The school keeps a vacancy page, but at the time of checking it carried only a note that it would be updated, so applications in practice go through the office. A school of five and a half thousand pupils turns over more posts in a year than a small one, even at a modest churn rate.

Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is SPEA’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.

Pay, plainly

No UAE regulator publishes private-school teacher pay, and that is as true of an association-run school as of a commercial one: SPEA licenses and inspects, the Ministry of Education licenses teachers, and neither discloses salaries. A school charging community-level fees is working with a smaller per-pupil budget than a premium school, and candidates should assume that is reflected somewhere in the package. Ask for salary, housing, flights, medical cover and gratuity as separate written lines, and ask who bears the cost of the SPEA appointment approval.

We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

Questions parents ask

SIS Juwaiza, honestly answered

Is the Juwaiza branch the same school as Sharjah Indian School?

They are two schools under one governing body. The main campus at Al Ghubaiba holds CBSE affiliation 6630005 and SPEA licence 174; the Juwaiza branch holds affiliation 6630102 and SPEA licence 202, with its own principal and its own inspection outcome. They share the Indian Association Sharjah, a PO Box and a name, which is why the two get mixed up on application forms.

Does the Juwaiza campus have kindergarten?

No. This campus teaches Classes 1 to 12 only. SPEA's licence record lists its classes as 1 through 12, while the main campus is licensed from KG 1. A family starting a child in kindergarten has to look at the parent campus or another school and transfer in at Class 1.

What are the fees at SIS Juwaiza?

SPEA's approved structure for 2025-26 gives AED 4,130 for Classes 1 to 4, AED 4,760 for Class 5, AED 4,835 for Classes 6 to 8, AED 5,150 for Class 9, AED 5,190 for Class 10 and AED 6,980 for Classes 11 and 12, tuition and books, with AED 165 for uniform. The school's own page then states 2026-27 as ten monthly instalments, from AED 440 a month in Classes 1 and 2 to AED 695 in Classes 11 and 12. Transport is zoned monthly, AED 295 to Dhaid up to AED 395 to Dubai.

Can my child study Malayalam right through to Class 10?

Yes, on the published scheme. Malayalam is an option alongside Hindi from Class 1 to Class 8 and remains available at Classes 9 and 10, so it can be carried to the Class 10 board rather than dropped part-way. That continuity is uncommon among Gulf schools. Tamil and Urdu are not offered at any level here.

Which classes are open for admission?

For 2026-27 the school stated that admissions were open for Classes 1 to 9 and Class 11 only, with Classes 10 and 12 closed. Selection is by assessment test and interview. Grade restrictions like this are published in the school's admission circular rather than on the admissions page, so check the circular for the year you are applying to.

Is this a boys' school?

The evidence on the school's own pages points that way and you should confirm it before applying for a daughter. Its CBSE mandatory disclosure records 144 boys' toilets and none for girls, and the 2026-27 registration form is served from an address that names boys explicitly. Neither the school nor SPEA states the gender policy in plain words anywhere we could find.

What inspection rating does the branch hold?

Good, from SPEA’s 2025 review of school 202, with earlier reports for 2023 and 2024 on the same record. The main campus at Al Ghubaiba also holds Good, evaluated in 2024. The two are inspected separately, so a rating quoted for one does not transfer to the other - check the licence number the rating attaches to, and see the SPEA page for how the bands work.

When did the Juwaiza branch actually open?

Three dates circulate and each is real. The campus was formally opened on 22 December 2016, it became functional on 19 February 2018, and SPEA's current licence for it dates from 17 June 2020. The school's own CBSE disclosure gives 2018 as the year of establishment, which is what we use. The 1979 date on some of its pages belongs to the parent school, not to this campus.
