Vedantu has a substantial number of public reviews on Trustpilot - roughly 194 at time of writing. Within those, a recurring pattern emerges: teachers absent when a paid class was due to start, delays between payment and a course being activated, and refunds reported as difficult to obtain once a plan is underway.

This is what is visible on a public review platform, not our own investigation. It does not describe every family's experience with Vedantu. It is context for a parent who has already had a specific problem and is looking elsewhere.

Separately, Vedantu publicly advertises one-to-one tutoring at a reported rate of around Rs 1,400 per hour. This is useful if you are comparing our one-to-one rate against theirs.

It is worth noting that a platform of this size handles an enormous number of sessions daily. A review pattern - even a consistent one - describes a proportion of experiences, not every single one. Some families using Vedantu are entirely satisfied. The pattern is context for a parent who has already had a specific, frustrating experience and is deciding what to do next. It is not a claim that the whole platform is unreliable.

Before switching to a new provider, consider whether the problem was isolated—a one-time illness or scheduling mix-up—or a pattern across multiple sessions. An isolated incident is frustrating but not necessarily grounds to leave; a repeated pattern is a real structural problem worth addressing.

When a teacher misses a paid class, it's rarely just a bad day—it usually happens because the platform assigns teachers from a general pool rather than to specific students. If your regular teacher is unavailable, the platform must find a replacement, and that's when classes fail to start on time or don't start at all.

The structural fix isn't just a promise—it's eliminating the pool altogether: one teacher assigned to your child's class, subject and board, week after week for as long as you're with us. If that teacher genuinely can't teach a session, we notify you in advance rather than swapping in a replacement without telling you. Ask any provider what their actual policy is.

Teacher continuity matters more as children get older. A Class 1 child sees a new teacher as just another part of the day; but by Class 6 and beyond, a child who has developed trust in their teacher can lose significant progress when that teacher vanishes mid-chapter, even if the substitute is skilled.

This is not a claim that larger is worse. Scale actually enables large platforms to provide things we simply cannot—extensive test libraries, comprehensive content collections. The comparison below shows trade-offs only, not a final judgement.

Worth stating plainly: a page that only argues one side is not one you should trust.

• You need JEE or NEET coaching, or are in Class 11-12. We end at Class 10 and run no competitive-exam programme. Vedantu's reach in that area is not something we compete with.
• You want recorded lectures as backup. We have no video library and no app. If missed live classes need to be rewatchable, we are not the right fit.
• You need a large brand's scale and breadth of content. We are small and specialise in one thing—live tuition for Class 1 to 10—not a full ecosystem of tests and course materials.
• Cost per hour at large scale matters more than group size. A group of three will never match large-batch pricing, and we would rather be clear than let that surprise you later.
• Your child already has a trusted teacher at Vedantu who has consistently attended. If the specific problems mentioned here have not affected you, there is nothing to fix.

Before you switch to a new tutor, it is worth being clear about your reason. Switching for the wrong reason disappoints twice: once when it fails to fix the real problem, and again when your child has now experienced two disruptions instead of one.

Switching works when the problem is structural - a teacher who keeps changing, sessions that repeatedly fail to start, a fee structure that was never transparent. A different provider or structure can genuinely fix these issues by building differently from the start.

Switching does not work when the actual problem is unrelated to the provider - your child is exhausted, she has decided she dislikes the subject regardless of who teaches it, or tuition sits at the end of a day so long that she is too tired to learn. Attend the trial class with a specific question in mind, not a vague hope that 'things will improve'. Is your child's gap in English comprehension, or in working through maths methods step by step? A trial that answers a concrete question teaches you far more than one that simply leaves you feeling pleased.

Observe whether the teacher asks your child to try something, or only demonstrates. A class where your child speaks and attempts is a stronger signal than one where the teacher dominates. Leave the trial able to name one specific thing you learned about your child that you did not know before.

Cancelling mid-plan isn't simple, and rushing it under pressure often costs more than taking a week to do it properly.

1. Check your Vedantu plan's refund and cancellation terms. These vary by plan and by when you enrolled.
2. Raise any cancellation or refund request in writing so there is a dated record separate from a phone call.
3. If a refund you believe is owed is disputed, that is a matter for Vedantu support or, if unresolved, your bank or a consumer forum—not something we can advise on.
4. Check whether your child keeps access to classes while you decide. Some plans end access the moment you raise a cancellation request; others run through the paid period. Knowing which applies before you act avoids an accidental gap.
5. Book a trial elsewhere before you cancel, so your child's routine is not interrupted mid-term.

The first month is about assessing fit, not judging results - results come later if the fit is right. Treat it as a trial period even after the free trial class, and tell your chosen provider that both of you are evaluating the arrangement.

Expect the first sessions to be diagnostic, not full speed. A teacher who jumps straight into new content without first checking where your child actually stands has missed a step that matters, regardless of who they work for. By session three or four, your child should be able to name one specific new thing they now understand.

Good early signs: fewer arguments about starting homework, and your child mentioning something the teacher said without you asking. A useful outside check is trying a free online test or learning game after a few weeks - not as a report card, but to see whether basics that were shaky are now solid.

One real live class, free, no card taken, with the teacher who would actually teach your child if you continued - not a generic demo. The point is to see whether the teacher notices what your child needs, not to be sold to.

You receive a written note afterwards. If the honest answer is that your child does not need regular tuition, or needs something we do not offer, we say so. If it is one-to-one attention your child needs rather than a group of three, ask about our one-to-one option before the trial so the right format is tested.

Bring whatever you already have - a recent report card, a marked test, or a chapter your child has been stuck on. It turns a general "how is my child doing" into something the teacher can actually respond to in the class itself, rather than guessing where to start.
