Online tuition for Class 1 to 5
Live classes with one matched teacher every week, taught from your child’s own school books. One teacher across subjects, the way school works at this stage — and a free assessment before anything is charged.
For Class 1 to 5, online tuition offers live video sessions with a teacher matched to your child, using the actual textbooks issued by the school. This period is when reading fluency, handwriting, numerical sense and work discipline develop - nearly all subsequent difficulties stem from gaps in one of these four areas.
Can you explain online tuition for Class 1 to 5, and how does it operate?
Live classes, held over video with a real teacher, for children in Class 1 through Class 5. Your child is matched to one teacher who takes their classes every week - the same person, not a rotating roster and not a recorded lesson with a chat box attached. Group classes run 50 minutes, sixteen times a month; one-to-one is 45 minutes per session, held twelve times monthly.
Instruction uses the textbooks from your child's school and follows the sequence their school adopts, not a generic plan. This is more significant at this stage than parents typically realise: a Class 3 student lagging in place value does not require a broad Maths programme, but rather the precise skill they overlooked. Only a teacher seeing the same student weekly can identify this.
Consistency forms the whole foundation. A teacher who has worked with your child for a month detects when the same error recurs. A person encountering them for the first time cannot, which is why large group classes and changing tutors create practical difficulties.
What makes Class 1 to 5 a separate learning stage?
School operates this way, and alignment matters. Through Class 5, most children learn from one class teacher for most subjects. At Class 6, this shifts to separate subject specialists—individual Maths and Science teachers—which is genuinely one of Indian schooling's steeper transitions, covered in our detailed post on the Class 5-6 shift.
Tuition is built identically: one teacher covering your child's subjects rather than three specialists for an eight-year-old. It limits new adults entering your child's world weekly and keeps one person holding your child's full picture rather than three each seeing fragments.
What is actually constructed here is foundational, not glamorous: fluent reading, legible writing at a reasonable pace, number sense and the readiness to sit down and work without resistance. Nearly every future difficulty traces back to one of these four.
How much will tuition for Classes 1 to 5 cost?
Published, and the same whether you ring us or not. For Class 1 to 5:
| Plan | Fee per month | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Group class, all subjects | ₹3,000 | 16 live classes covering all subjects your child's school teaches |
| One-to-one | ₹5,000 | 12 live classes, fully tailored, for rapid progress |
| English Speaking Group | ₹2,000 | 8 live classes, 45 minutes of discussion per class |
| Bengaluru home tuition | ₹6,000 | 16 in-person classes, South and East Bengaluru only, very limited seats |
Rival services withhold fees until parents contact them, something this site's research identified as both a competitive edge and a credibility issue. Online tuition for class 1 to 5 fees gets searched by parents online, so requiring a phone call to learn costs is unnecessary. The detailed price list, outlining inclusions and exclusions, appears on the fees page.
Fees rise for older children because the teaching load genuinely does - Class 9 and 10 need subject specialists and board-exam preparation. Class 1 to 5 is the lowest band on every plan.
Do you teach to CBSE, ICSE and state boards?
All three. CBSE is the most common request and ICSE the next, but state boards are taught properly rather than as an afterthought, including Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
One thing worth knowing if your child is in Class 1 to 5 specifically: CBSE publishes no syllabus document below Class 9 and sets no exam before Class 10. Below Class 9 it advises rather than instructs, which means your school is making most of the real decisions about what gets taught and when. This is why we work from your child's actual books rather than from a board's published syllabus - at this stage, for CBSE, there mostly isn't one.
If you are still choosing between boards, our post on CBSE or ICSE works through what actually differs, and the boards overview compares all of them. If your child follows NCERT materials are also covered - just as most CBSE schools do.
What subjects are available at this level?
Everything a Class 1 to 5 child is actually taught, and nothing padded on to lengthen a list.
| Subject | What tuition focuses on in Class 1 to 5 |
|---|---|
| English | Reading fluency, comprehension, writing sentences, spelling |
| Maths | Number sense, place value, tables, fractions, word problems |
| EVS | The Class 1 to 5 environmental science syllabus, which becomes Science at Class 6 |
| Hindi | Reading Devanagari, matras, spelling and grammar - not only spoken Hindi |
| Phonics | Letter sounds and blending, for a child who cannot yet decode unfamiliar words |
| Spoken English | Speaking confidence, for a child who understands English but answers in one word |
Phonics and spoken English run as their own tracks rather than folded into a general English class, because they are different problems - our posts on a child weak in reading English and a child who understands English but will not speak explain why the distinction matters.
Free online tests and practice games stay available to everyone, even if you never sign up for a class.
Does location matter when selecting online tuition?
No, and that is the honest answer even though it is the phrase everyone searches. Because classes are live over video, the teacher pool available to a family in a small town is the same as the pool available to a family in Bengaluru. Proximity stops being the constraint it genuinely is for offline tuition.
That changes what you are choosing on. Instead of picking whoever teaches within a reasonable drive and hoping they know your child's board, the teacher is matched on board, class and subject. For Class 1 to 5 that usually means one teacher across subjects; for a specific gap it can mean a specialist for a few weeks.
The one genuine exception is in-person teaching, which cannot escape geography. We run home tuition in Bengaluru for Class 1 to 5 in parts of South and East Bengaluru only, with very limited seats, because one teacher physically travels to them. Everywhere else, and every class above 5, is taught online - and if you are weighing the two, our post on whether online tuition works for young children is deliberately even-handed about where it does not.
Do you teach across all of India?
Yes - the classes are online and nationwide, and online tuition for class 1 to 5 india is the single most-suggested version of this search, which suggests plenty of parents are checking exactly this.
Kerala comes up often enough to be worth naming: it is one of the most searched locations for online tuition anywhere, ahead of most Indian cities. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana are similarly well represented. Teaching is matched to your child's board rather than your state, which matters where a state board differs meaningfully from CBSE.
For families outside India, the same Class 1 to 5 teaching is available with fees in local currency - we have pages for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Malaysia, or see the international overview. Children on the Indian curriculum abroad study identical syllabi, which is why teaching from India is effective.
How to get started, and what happens in the assessment session?
With one free live class, not a sales call. A teacher spends time with your child on real work - a topic they are stuck on, a recent test, whatever you have - and you are welcome to sit in. No card is taken and there is nothing to cancel.
Bring something specific if you can: a marked test, or a homework page where the same mistake repeats. That is usually enough for a teacher to see the actual pattern inside half an hour, rather than working from a description. Afterwards you get an honest note on what the teacher noticed - including the uncomfortable version, that the gap traces to a class below where your child is now, or that we do not think tuition is what they need.
If you are not yet sure tuition is the answer, our post on the signs a child actually needs a tutor is written partly to rule things out - vision, hearing, routine and simple boredom all masquerade as academic problems. Otherwise, book an assessment here, and real parent experiences are on reviews.
Four things, and nearly every later problem traces to one of them
Class 1 to 5 teaching is unglamorous on purpose. There is no board exam to prepare for and no syllabus document below Class 9 to teach against — what there is, is a foundation that either gets laid properly or gets paid for later.
- The capacity to read unfamiliar words accurately rather than guess from illustrations
- Neat writing at a pace that matches classroom activity.
- Number sense—understanding that 40 consists of four tens, rather than treating it as a symbol following 39
- Starting work without conflict is a habit you teach your child, not an inborn trait.
If any of those sound like your child right now, the quickest way to find out where the gap actually sits is to have them do one free online test for their class - it is marked as you go and explains every answer - or work through a few free online tests with the answer keys attached.

Class 1 to 5 tuition, honestly answered
What is the cost of Class 1 to 5 online tuition?
Group classes covering all subjects are ₹3,000 per month for sixteen live classes. One-to-one is ₹5,000 per month for twelve classes, and spoken English is ₹2,000. Class 1 to 5 marks the entry tier on all plans, with everything published on the fees page rather than quoted on a call.
Can Class 1 or 2 children learn well online?
It depends on the child rather than the age, and we would rather say so than sell you a class that will not work. What matters most at six or seven is whether a child can stay with one adult's attention for around thirty minutes, and whether a parent can be nearby for the first few sessions. Our post on whether online tuition works for young children is deliberately even-handed about where it does not.
Do you follow CBSE for Class 1 to 5?
Yes, and it is the most common request - but worth knowing that CBSE publishes no syllabus document below Class 9 and sets no exam before Class 10. Below Class 9 it advises rather than instructs, so your school makes most of the real decisions. That is why we teach from your child's actual books rather than from a board syllabus that, at this stage, largely does not exist.
Can I find tuition for Class 1 to 5 locally?
For online classes the question mostly stops applying - the teachers available to you are the same wherever in India you are, because the class is live over video. The one exception is in-person home tuition in Bengaluru, which we run only in parts of South and East Bengaluru for Class 1 to 5, with very limited seats.
Can a single educator teach all subjects, or will your child need different teachers?
For Class 1 to 5, one teacher across subjects, which mirrors how school works at this stage - most children have a single class teacher until Class 6. It also keeps the number of new adults in a young child's week down, and means one person holds the whole picture of how your child is doing.
Is Hindi taught from Class 1 to 5, with both reading and writing?
Yes, as a full subject rather than spoken practice - see Hindi tuition. That distinction matters: a child can speak Hindi fluently at home and still not read Devanagari at speed or place matras correctly, and written Hindi is what an exam tests. Our post on this exact gap explains why.
How many children are in a group class?
It is a group class rather than a one-to-one, and small enough that a teacher can hear each child read or answer within a session. If your child needs the whole session on their own specific difficulty, one-to-one is our genuine recommendation and we will state that at the assessment.
What if we miss a class?
You receive a recording of the session, and the teacher will continue that topic the following week rather than move ahead regardless. Continuity comes from having the same teacher each week, so a missed session is properly recognised rather than quietly overlooked.
What happens after Class 5?
Teaching moves to subject specialists, mirroring the school transition at Class 6. That jump is a genuinely difficult one for many children - our post on the Class 5 to Class 6 jump covers what changes and how to prepare.
Is the free assessment really free?
Yes. Take one live class from a real educator, with no card details and nothing to cancel. Afterwards, you'll get an honest assessment including the teacher's observation - and whether tutoring actually suits your child.
We build our plan around your child's book list.
Your first live class is free—no card, nothing to cancel. Afterwards, you receive honest feedback detailing what the teacher observed.
- Tell us the class, the board, and where it is going wrong.
- We find a teacher who has taught that exact thing, and offer a slot.
- A free 20-minute assessment - stay and watch if you would like to.
- No card, nothing to commit to
- Live classes, never a crowded room
- One teacher, every single week
