Class 7 Science heat test

Twenty questions cover heat exclusively, the chapter presenting how warmth travels between objects rather than merely quantifying it. The real challenge is not thermometer values—it is distinguishing conduction, convection and radiation when a question describes the situation without naming the type. Each question clarifies its approach, and the concluding screen indicates which section requires review.

  1. Question 1. What is the degree of hotness or coldness of an object called?

    • Energy
    • Pressure
    • Heat
    • Temperature
  2. Question 2. Which instrument is used to measure temperature?

    • Anemometer
    • Thermometer
    • Hygrometer
    • Barometer
  3. Question 3. What is the usual unit for measuring temperature in Indian schools?

  1. Question 4. What is the normal human body temperature in degrees Celsius, approximately?

    • 98°C
    • 42°C
    • 37°C
    • 25°C
  2. Question 5. Why can a laboratory thermometer not be used to measure human body temperature reliably?

    • It measures pressure, not temperature
    • It only measures temperatures below zero
    • It cannot be cleaned safely
    • It has a much wider range and is less precise around body temperature
  3. Question 6. Why must a clinical thermometer never be shaken while reading a patient's temperature?

    • It has no kink, so shaking is harmless
    • It has a kink that stops the mercury sliding back, so the reading stays until shaken later
    • Shaking makes it heat up faster
    • Shaking changes the units it reads in
  4. Question 7. The transfer of heat through a solid, from particle to particle, without the particles moving from their place, is called what?

    • Evaporation
    • Conduction
    • Radiation
    • Convection
  5. Question 8. Materials that allow heat to pass through them easily are called what?

    • Conductors
    • Radiators
    • Insulators
    • Reflectors

Class 7 Science test - common questions

Why do Class 7 children mix up conduction, convection and radiation?

All three processes produce the same outcome - heat increases - which can make exam questions appear identical even though the underlying mechanism differs. The solution is tying each to a vivid example: a metal spoon in hot tea for conduction, boiling water in a pot for convection, or sunlight travelling through empty space for radiation. Identifying the medium required for each (a solid, a fluid, or nothing at all) resolves most confusion more quickly than memorising the definitions alone.

What is the most common mistake in sea breeze and land breeze questions?

The test asks students to determine wind direction by first identifying the underlying principle - land heats and cools more rapidly than water - a truth about temperature often memorised as a wind fact instead of understood from fundamentals. If you establish which surface is warmer at that particular moment, then apply the reasoning that warm air rises whilst cool air fills the space left behind, the direction emerges consistently without separate memorisation for day versus night.

Is this Class 7 science online test free?

Absolutely free, with no registration of any kind. You won't need to provide an email, you won't need to set up an account and you won't need to log in. The test works right in your browser. Your score appears on the page only, and nothing whatsoever gets saved elsewhere. When the tab is closed, your score vanishes. This is what our privacy commitment guarantees, not a belief we request.

Is there a timer?

This feature is optional and disabled by default. A child's initial attempt should reveal what they actually understand, not how quickly they can respond while being observed. When a timer runs on an unfamiliar test, it measures nervousness alongside science knowledge equally. In timed mode, roughly forty-five seconds are available per question, which matches the tempo of actual examinations.

Can my child take it more than once?

Students can retry as frequently as needed. Questions come from a question pool with the sequence and option positions randomised on each attempt, making it impossible to succeed by simply recalling previous positions. A test repeated a week later provides considerably more insight than one taken the same evening.

How is this different from your Class 7 science worksheets?

Worksheets focus on a single topic at depth on paper, marked by you, while these tests score themselves. They address different requirements: tests reveal where understanding breaks down, worksheets repair it. In most households, ten minutes of worksheet practice yields more learning than an hour practising something that never was the actual problem.
