GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah
The one Sharjah school an inspection put at the top of the scale - and the practical questions that fact does not answer.
The regulator’s grade
Outstanding · 2022-23

What this school actually is, and who governs it
GEMS Millennium School opened on 23 May 2010 in Muwailih, by the roundabout across from the Nesto supermarket, modelled on The Millennium School in Dubai and run by GEMS Education. It carries a claim no other school in this pilot can make: after an Itqan review at the end of 2022 in which six reviewers observed 180 lessons, SPEA rated it Outstanding - a two-band jump from the Good it held in May 2019. GEMS described it at the time as the only school in Sharjah and the only CBSE-curriculum school in the entire UAE to hold that grade, and Gulf News repeated the Sharjah part of that in July 2024. It is worth understanding what Outstanding buys you in practice beyond bragging rights: SPEA pegs the maximum fee increase a school may apply for to its rating band, so the top-rated school is also the one with the most headroom to raise fees.
One caution about that rating, and we would rather print it than hide it. The school's own history page labels the Outstanding award as belonging to 2019-2020, which contradicts the GEMS and Gulf News account of a review conducted at the end of 2022 that replaced a 2019 Good. We could not open an SPEA-hosted report or register entry for this school to settle the year, so the rating on this page is carried on the operator's announcement and a national newspaper rather than on the regulator's own document. That is a weaker chain of evidence than the ones behind several of its neighbours, and you should know that when you compare.
On scale, the school's own history page describes roughly 2,500 pupils from Pre-KG to Grade 12 with about 150 staff and a sixteen-to-one ratio, while the GEMS group directory says 2,200 and Gulf News said more than 2,400 in July 2024. Those are snapshots from different years rather than a dispute. The facilities list is where the school spends its differentiation: three libraries holding more than 15,000 titles, a swimming pool, a track and field, an auditorium, and a cluster of making spaces branded as FABLABs, an Innovation Lab, an Imaginarium and a TinkerLab. It is also, on its own account and the group's, the only CBSE day-boarding school in Sharjah - a genuinely unusual proposition in an emirate where boarding is rare.
The curriculum is structured on India's National Education Policy five-plus-three-plus-four pattern, and the school teaches artificial intelligence across every grade from kindergarten to Grade 12, which Gulf News picked out as distinctive. Two signature programmes, TAG - Tap-A-Genius - and Malhaar, run alongside. Its accreditation shelf includes Microsoft Enabled School status, Common Sense digital-citizenship certification and an Eco-Schools Green Flag, plus the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence, the Hamdan Award for Distinguished School and a Sharjah award for its parent council.
The one thing this school handles differently from most of the batch is its senior-school subject architecture. It does not label Science, Commerce and Humanities streams at all. Instead it publishes two pools - academic electives and skill electives - and lets combinations form across them, which is closer to how CBSE actually works than the three-box model most Indian schools inherit. That flexibility is a real advantage for a pupil who wants, say, psychology alongside applied mathematics. It is also harder to plan against, because the school does not publish how many electives a student must take or which combinations the timetable will actually support.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Sharjah Private Education Authority. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (AED) |
|---|---|
| Pre-KG | 15,880 |
| KG I | 15,880 |

| Grade 2 | 19,850 |
| Grade 3 | 22,051 |
| Grade 4 | 22,051 |
| Grade 5 | 23,155 |
| Grade 6 | 23,155 |
| Grade 7 | 23,155 |
| Grade 8 | 23,155 |
| Grade 9 | 24,255 |
| Grade 10 | 24,255 |
| Grade 11 | 25,360 |
| Grade 12 | 25,360 |
Annual dirham figures for 2026-27, taken from the school's own tuition page. An earlier draft of this page guessed that the approved ceiling equalled the school's own KG II figure of 17,642; that was wrong. SPEA's approved fee-structure PDF for this licence, dated for 2025-26, is higher than the school's charged figure at every grade: 17,835 against 15,880 at Pre-KG and KG I, 22,305 against 22,051 at Grades 3 and 4, 23,430 to 23,440 against 23,155 at Grades 5 to 8, and 25,675 against 25,360 at Grades 11 and 12. So the school charges consistently below its approved ceiling rather than at it, which is the pattern to expect from a well-rated school with headroom it has not used. A new admission costs 500 dirhams, non-refundable and non-transferable, though it is adjusted against the first term's tuition. Payment runs in ten instalments with nothing collected in July or August, which matches an April-to-March year. Ignore the fee range still shown on the GEMS group directory page - it is older than this table and lower.

Fee increases are governed by SPEA, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
This school publishes birth-date brackets rather than an age in years, which removes the usual ambiguity entirely. For 2026-27: Pre-KG for children born between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023, KG1 for 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, KG2 for 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, and Grade 1 for 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020. The brackets are set against the Sharjah ministry rules for an April-start year.
The cycle is unusually explicit: applications open in October, entrance tests and interviews run through November, and enrolment is finalised by January once the ministry confirms it. Two grades are effectively closed - the school states it does not admit into Grade 10 or Grade 12 except in special circumstances, which is a sensible rule given board-exam registration and a hard one to argue your way around.
What to have ready
- The online registration number and the completed admission form
- Copies of the child's passport, UAE visa and Emirates ID
- Birth certificate in English and Arabic
- Three passport photographs
- The sponsor's identity documents
- Immunisation and vaccination records
- Transfer certificate and report cards, required from Grade 2 upward
The steps, in order
- 1.Register through the online portal during the October window.
- 2.Attend the assessment set for your child's stage - a parent-accompanied interactive session at Pre-K and kindergarten, an interactive session plus a look at the prior report card for Grades 1 to 6.
- 3.For Grades 7 to 9, sit entrance examinations in mathematics and science alongside the report-card review.
- 4.For Grade 11, choose subjects first, then sit entrance examinations for any science or mathematics-based subject you have selected.
- 5.Wait for the November and December decision round, and expect ministry confirmation before the place is final.
- 6.Complete enrolment by January and pay the admission amount, which is credited against first-term tuition.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
There is no stream table here because the school does not use streams. English Core anchors the senior timetable and everything else is chosen from two published pools. The academic pool runs accountancy, physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, applied mathematics, political science, sociology, psychology, history, economics, business studies, computer science, informatics practices, painting, cost accounting and physical education. The skill pool adds artificial intelligence, marketing, multimedia, computer application and typography, and mass media studies. The school does not say how many a student must take or which pairings the timetable supports, so that is the question to bring to the Grade 11 subject-selection meeting.
Languages
The second language is introduced in Grade 1 and carried through to Grade 10, chosen from Hindi, Malayalam or French, and at Grades 9 and 10 CBSE Arabic joins that list as a fourth option. The rule families most often trip over is the switching rule: the school allows a change of second language only up to Grade 2, and refuses changes from Grade 3 onward. If you are joining in Grade 4 from a school that taught a different language, that decision is effectively made for you on the day you enrol. Arabic and moral education are separately compulsory for every pupil from Grade 1 to Grade 12, as ministry rules require.
What it is known for
The only Sharjah school holding an Outstanding inspection outcome, the only CBSE day-boarding option in the emirate, and artificial intelligence taught in every year group from kindergarten upward. It holds Microsoft Enabled School status, Common Sense digital-citizenship certification and an Eco-Schools Green Flag, and has collected the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished School. Three libraries carry more than 15,000 titles between them, and the making spaces are branded as FABLABs, an Innovation Lab, an Imaginarium and a TinkerLab.
Second languages listed for this school
Language options are set by the school and can differ between year groups. Confirm the combination for your child’s entry grade in writing before accepting a seat. Full list across every school: filter schools by second language.

Teaching jobs at GMS Sharjah
Roles this kind of school hires for
- Kindergarten and primary teacher
- Mathematics and science teacher for Grades 7 to 10
- Senior elective specialist - psychology, applied mathematics, business studies, computer science
- Skill-elective teacher including artificial intelligence and multimedia
- Second-language teacher in Hindi, Malayalam, French or CBSE Arabic
- Boarding and residential staff for the day-boarding programme
When hiring actually runs
Openings cluster in the January drive, peak through March as the April session is built, and reappear in August when the term-one resignations land. Applications go by curriculum vitae to the school's own recruitment addresses with the post named in the subject line; the group's central portal lists this school as an employer but was showing no live vacancies when we last looked.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is SPEA’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
No UAE regulator publishes a private-school salary scale, so there is no public figure for this school or any other. What the school does publish is its eligibility bar: a graduate or post-graduate degree in your specialism, a recognised teaching qualification, and eligibility for SPEA approval. Settle the approval question before you discuss money, because an offer you cannot be licensed for is not an offer.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

GMS Sharjah, honestly answered
Is this really the only Outstanding school in Sharjah?
SPEA's own evaluation report, hosted on its licensed-schools directory, confirms the Outstanding rating directly, and it is also what GEMS Education announced and what Gulf News reported in July 2024, describing it as the only CBSE school in the UAE at that grade. The school's own history page still dates the award to a different year than the regulator and the announcement do - that discrepancy is the school's to fix, not ours to paper over.
What are the fees for 2026-27?
The school publishes them grade by grade: 15,880 dirhams at Pre-KG and KG I, 17,642 at KG II, rising through 19,850 at Grades 1 and 2 to 25,360 at Grades 11 and 12. Admission costs an extra 500 dirhams, credited against the first term. Fees are collected in ten instalments with no collection in July or August.
Which second language can my child take, and can we change it later?
Hindi, Malayalam or French from Grade 1 through to Grade 10, with CBSE Arabic added as an option at Grades 9 and 10. The switching rule matters more than the list: you may change the second language only up to Grade 2, and the school does not allow changes from Grade 3 onward. Arabic and moral education are compulsory for everyone separately.
Can I get my child in for Grade 10 or Grade 12?
Normally no. The school states it does not admit into Grades 10 and 12 except in special circumstances. That is a common rule in CBSE schools because both are board years and registration is already lodged. If you are relocating with a child entering either, start the conversation with the school early and be prepared to look at the year below or a different school.
How does the Grade 11 subject choice work here?
There are no Science, Commerce or Humanities labels. You choose English Core plus subjects from an academic elective pool and a skill elective pool, so a combination like psychology with applied mathematics is structurally possible. The school does not publish how many electives are required or which combinations the timetable supports, and for science or maths-based choices you sit an entrance examination as part of admission.
What are the exact age brackets for kindergarten and Grade 1?
For 2026-27 the school publishes date ranges instead of ages: Pre-KG for births from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023, KG1 from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, KG2 from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021, and Grade 1 from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020. That removes the guesswork you get at schools which only state an age in years.
Does the school offer boarding?
Yes, and on its own and the group's account it is the only CBSE day-boarding option in Sharjah. That is a genuinely rare facility in an emirate where almost all Indian-curriculum provision is day-only, and it is the reason some families look at this school from outside the northern emirates entirely.
When does the school year start?
April. The 2025-26 session ran from 7 April 2025 to 19 March 2026, split into a term ending on 5 October and a second term to the end, with a summer holiday from 7 July to 24 August and a winter break from 22 December to 4 January. SPEA's standard calendar starting in late August does not apply to Indian-curriculum schools.
