Class 2 Tamil test - common questions
Is this Class 2 Tamil online test free?
Yes, fully free and no sign-up is required. Registration is unnecessary—no email needed, no account setup, no login. Your browser executes the test without storing any information. Your score appears directly on the page and clears as soon as you shut the tab, precisely matching what our privacy policy guarantees rather than something we ask you to take on faith.
Which syllabus does it follow?
This test follows Tamil Nadu Samacheer Kalvi, the curriculum that all schools in the state use for Tamil - including CBSE and ICSE schools within Tamil Nadu, since Tamil is compulsory across all boards in that state. A Class 2 child anywhere in Tamil Nadu encounters these same letters and words in essentially the same sequence.
Is there a timer?
The timer is optional and starts off. An opening attempt should show what a child recognises, not their working pace under observation, because a clock on unfamiliar material registers nerves as readily as reading. At this age, we recommend leaving it off.
Can my child take it more than once?
As many times as desired. The questions come from a bank with both sequence and answer choices randomised on each attempt, preventing success through memorisation of position. For letter and word recognition practice, multiple brief sessions prove more effective than a single extended session.
How is this different from your Class 2 Tamil worksheets?
The worksheets involve tracing and writing Tamil letters with a pencil, which is how six and seven year olds consolidate letter shapes; this test only evaluates recognition through a screen. Both should operate in tandem—pencil writing builds the skill, and this verifies which letter shapes are already well established.
