Why does algebra feel strange to Class 6 children at first?
For six years, children have known letters to mean sounds within words. Now a letter represents a number that can vary. This is a genuine shift, not simply a more difficult version of arithmetic, and it requires time to become comfortable rather than being approached as another routine skill to practise rapidly.
What is the most common mistake in Class 6 algebra?
Students sometimes interpret mn as digits placed side-by-side (like 'thirty-two') instead of m times n, or confuse 3x with x + 3. Both errors stem from applying whole-number conventions to algebraic notation. Pronouncing expressions verbally - 'three lots of x' rather than '3x' - typically resolves this faster than additional practice problems.

Can my child take it more than once?
As many times as they want. The question pool is shuffled both in sequence and answer positions on each attempt, so repeating it cannot succeed through recalling positions from memory. Testing again a week on reveals substantially more than testing again that same evening.
