Class 1 English action words test

Twenty items addressing action words exclusively - vocabulary representing what someone performs, such as run, eat or sleep. The difficulty seldom involves identifying an action in imagery; it centres on distinguishing action words from naming words or descriptive words within sentences. Following each answer, the reasoning is outlined. The concluding screen identifies which section warrants review.

Class 1 English test - common questions

What is an action word?

A word representing an action that someone or something performs—examples include 'run', 'eat' or 'sleep'. Class 1 learners typically encounter this concept through visual representation initially, through physical demonstration or observation, before the formal linguistic term 'verb' is introduced in subsequent years.

My child mixes up naming words and action words. Is that normal?

Usually, and a single clear question, posed aloud, addresses it - 'is this an object, or is it an action someone performs?' A ball is an object that can be held, whereas kicking is an action performed on it. Once this distinction becomes instinctive, the confusion typically resolves.

Is this Class 1 English online test free?

Absolutely free - there is no sign-up requirement. You provide no email, create no account, and enter no login credentials. The browser runs the test directly, storing nothing on servers. Your score appears on the page during the session and vanishes when you close the tab. This approach aligns with what our privacy policy specifies, rather than asking for faith in our practices.

My child cannot read on their own yet - is this still useful?

Yes. All prompts stay brief and use words a six-year-old encounters regularly, so reading them aloud together on first attempt is perfectly acceptable. This assesses letter sounds and basic words, not solo reading ability.

Can my child take it more than once?

Without restriction. Questions are selected from a bank, with both the sequence and the options scrambled every time, so guessing correctly on a second attempt by recalling a previous answer position is not possible.

How is this different from your Class 1 English worksheets?

Worksheets focus on one topic at depth using paper, which you mark by hand. These tests mark themselves automatically. A test identifies where understanding breaks down, while a worksheet builds it back up. Most families find a brief test session more beneficial than spending an hour practising something that was never the actual problem.
