Class 1 Punjabi test - common questions

Is this Class 1 Punjabi online test free?

Absolutely - the test is provided entirely free and you need not sign up. No email address is required, no account must be created, and no login is necessary. Your browser runs the test directly and stores nothing. The score remains visible on the page until you close the tab, which aligns with what our privacy policy states, not something we ask you to believe on faith.

Which syllabus does it follow?

This is the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class 1 Punjabi curriculum, in which Punjabi serves as the mandatory first language. Learners studying Punjabi as a lighter second language in Delhi, Haryana or Chandigarh encounter the same basic letters and common vocabulary, making this test applicable for them as well, though a first-language speaker typically recognises them more quickly.

Is there a timer?

This feature is optional and switched off at the start. The opening attempt should reveal what a six-year-old understands, not how quickly they work under observation, since a timer on an unfamiliar test captures anxiety no less than actual letter recognition.

Can my child take it more than once?

Students may retake the test whenever they choose. Questions come from a question bank with the order randomised and the answer options randomised each time, so a second attempt cannot succeed through recalling the previous answer position.

My child cannot read Gurmukhi on screen yet - is that normal?

Absolutely, particularly at this stage. The script is still unfamiliar, and identifying a letter displayed on a screen represents a different ability from forming it by hand. Reading the text aloud together initially, followed by permitting the child to attempt independently, provides a smoother entry point than expecting silent reading from the outset.
