Class 10 English editing and omission test
This test presents twenty questions on editing and omission, the board exam section where limited marks conceal a skill worth learning. The focus is not on grammar terminology but on careful reading that catches a single incorrect, omitted, or superfluous word within each sentence. Every answer includes guidance on what to identify, and the final screen highlights the pattern to recognise in future attempts.

Class 10 English test - common questions
Why do students lose marks on editing and omission specifically?
It appears minor and demands little effort, so students tend to hurry through it. The actual ability being assessed is careful reading, rather than sophisticated grammatical knowledge. A student who takes time to read each line aloud at normal speaking speed, instead of skimming rapidly, typically shows quick improvement without requiring supplementary grammar instruction.
What is the difference between an editing question and an omission question?
An editing question contains an incorrect word requiring correction, whereas an omission question has a gap and asks which word should go in and at what position. Though the board paper marks them identically, they demand somewhat distinct approaches - editing calls for spotting the error, omission requires identifying the absence.
Is this Class 10 English online test free?
Absolutely - it requires no sign-up of any kind. We do not ask for an email, an account or a login. The test operates entirely in your browser and stores nothing. Your score appears on the page while it is open, then vanishes once you close the tab. This behaviour is guaranteed by our privacy policy, not something you need to take on trust.
Is there a timer?
It is optional and starts in the off position. Your child's first attempt should demonstrate actual knowledge, not working speed under observation. Timed mode allocates approximately one minute per question, which matches the board examination's grammar section pace.
Can my child take it more than once?
Your child can retake it as often as wished. The test draws from a question bank with both the question order and the answer position shuffled each attempt, so success on a second try requires genuine knowledge not position memory.
How is this different from your Class 10 English worksheets?
Paper worksheets concentrate on one grammar topic and require your assessment; our tests self-assess and combine topics as the board paper does. A test locates where understanding breaks down, whilst a worksheet remedies it.
