English contains a collection of frequent irregular verbs that violate this pattern. The genuine solution involves consistent encounters with correct forms—go, went; eat, ate—through everyday speech and texts, not rehearsing the regular rule they have already mastered.

These are not part of Class 3's formal grammar curriculum. At this level, teaching concentrates on three simple tenses: past, present and future. Later classes introduce continuous and perfect tenses in stages, which is why the Class 3 test appropriately omits them rather than assessing material not yet covered.

This prevents passing on a second try just by remembering which position the answer occupied. Waiting a week before retrying provides substantially more understanding than taking it again on the same day.
