What this school actually is, and who governs it
Start with the names, because this school has more of them than any other in the collection and they matter when you are searching. CBSE's register calls it PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya at D G Q A Complex, Pazhavanthangal. The sangathan's directory calls it Kendriaya Vidyalaya DGI Complex, misspelling both the second word and the acronym, and gives the address as KV DGQA, Palavanthangal. Its own web domain is chennaidgicomplex. So a parent may encounter DGQA or DGI, and Pazhavanthangal or Palavanthangal, and all four refer to one campus holding CBSE affiliation 1900022, school code 59024 and KV code 1773.
DGQA is the Directorate General of Quality Assurance, the defence ministry organisation that inspects and certifies military stores and equipment, and the school stands in its Chennai complex. That places the campus in the defence side of the sangathan's sector map, where children of transferable central government employees including defence personnel and ex-servicemen head the admission priority order. As with the other unreachable schools in this set, the sector is an inference from the sponsor written into the address rather than a statement the school itself makes, and it should be confirmed directly, because it determines almost everything about an application's chances.
The site could not be confirmed against, and the reason is the same as at eight other campuses here. On 16 September 2026 the school's website was attempted more than once, over HTTPS and plain HTTP with pauses between. The domain resolved to a government s3waas host at 103.195.212.172 and the connection then failed to establish, timing out each time. This particular address sits in a slightly different block from the other failures, which is mildly interesting and changes nothing: the effect is that section counts, roll, staffing, facilities and founding year, all of which live on that site, could not be read and have not been guessed.
The registers are clear on the essentials. CBSE affiliates the school at senior secondary level, so Classes 11 and 12 operate, and applies the PM SHRI prefix to the entry, marking it as designated under the central exemplar scheme tied to the National Education Policy 2020. The streams are not recorded in either register. Both CBSE and the sangathan name the head as Surender Kumar Saini, in the same form, which is the kind of independent agreement that is absent at several other Chennai campuses in this collection and makes the entry rather more trustworthy than most.
On location, Pazhavanthangal sits in the southern suburbs along the Chennai suburban railway line towards Tambaram, with its own halt, which makes this one of the more accessible Chennai Kendriya Vidyalayas for a family already on that corridor. CBSE's register files it under the Chennai district. That is worth noting alongside the register's treatment of Avadi, also filed under Chennai despite being a separate municipal corporation: the district column in CBSE's list reflects the affiliation region rather than a strict civic boundary, and should not be read as a statement about which corporation a school falls in.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 11 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 11 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Class 12 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 12 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
Whatever else about this campus is uncertain while its website is down, the fees are not, because Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan fixes one schedule for every school it runs and a principal has no authority to alter a line of it. The amounts were read from the sangathan's fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and have not been re-read since, that host having stopped responding to requests, so they are warranted as of that date rather than today. The whole of a family's recurring outlay here is the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi at 500 rupees a month, the computer fund at 100 a month from Class 3, and tuition which does not begin at all until Class 9 and then runs at 200 a month, rising to 300 or 400 in the senior years by stream. Tuition is waived entirely for girls in Classes 6 to 12, for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children, for children of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan staff and for Right to Education admissions.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
Class 1 requires six completed years on 31 March of the admission year and an age below eight, counting a 1 April birthday as inside the window. The sangathan publishes a two-year band for each class up to Class 10 on the same reference date, and no campus may widen them for a transferring family.
Class 1 registration opens online during an advertised period fixed by the Chennai Regional Office. Vacancies above Class 1 are published on each school's own page, and this school's page could not be opened, so the position here has to be obtained by telephone rather than checked in advance.
What to have ready
- Birth certificate placing the child inside the applicable band
- Defence or other central government service certificate for the parent, with the seven-year transfer record
- Transfer certificate from the previous school for entry at Class 2 or above
- Community certificate for a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC non-creamy-layer seat
- Disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs application
- Address proof where the Right to Education quota is claimed
The steps, in order
- 1.Search under both spellings, DGQA and DGI, and both forms of the locality, Pazhavanthangal and Palavanthangal, when looking for this school in any register or portal.
- 2.Telephone for seat information, because the school's own vacancy table cannot be reached.
- 3.Confirm the sector directly, since it is inferred here from the DGQA sponsor rather than published by the school.
- 4.Register online in the advertised window for Class 1.
- 5.For Class 9, sit the sangathan's single written paper across Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science and Science.
- 6.The priority order, the reservation percentages and the Right to Education route are documented at /regulators/kvs.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
Classes 11 and 12 run, on the authority of CBSE's senior secondary affiliation, and that is all that can be said. Neither register names the streams and the school's own pages were unreachable. The Chennai campuses whose pages did load run Science and Commerce, with one Arts section between all of them, but that is background rather than evidence about this school.
Languages
Not established beyond Hindi, which every Kendriya Vidyalaya teaches. It is worth repeating that none of the ten Chennai Kendriya Vidyalayas in this collection publishes its third-language options, including those whose sites loaded normally, so this is a system-wide omission and not a consequence of the outage at this campus.
What it is known for
Standing in the Directorate General of Quality Assurance complex at Pazhavanthangal, near the suburban railway halt of the same name, and appearing under four different spellings across three registers and its own domain name.
Second languages listed for this school
Language options are set by the school and can differ between year groups. Confirm the combination for your child’s entry grade in writing before accepting a seat. Full list across every school: filter schools by second language.

Teaching jobs at KV DGQA Pazhavanthangal
Roles this kind of school hires for
- Post Graduate Teachers for the senior secondary classes the register confirms operate here
- Trained Graduate Teachers across the middle school
- Primary teachers, normally the largest grade on a Kendriya Vidyalaya establishment
- Librarian and specialist posts in art, music, work education and physical education
- Contractual teachers appointed by the school against sanctioned posts awaiting central recruitment
When hiring actually runs
Contractual and part-time appointments are made by the school itself around the April start of the session and advertised on its own notice feed, which cannot presently be reached. Regular appointments come exclusively through Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's national recruitment, notified centrally when the sangathan runs a drive, with postings assigned anywhere in the country.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
Published and identical across the sangathan, on the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix: Primary Teacher at Level 6, 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees; Trained Graduate Teacher at Level 7, 44,900 to 1,42,400; Post Graduate Teacher at Level 8, 47,600 to 1,51,100; Vice Principal at Level 10, 56,100 to 1,77,500; Principal at Level 12, 78,800 to 2,09,200; Assistant Engineer and Hindi Translator at Level 6. Which posts are open at this campus cannot be seen, since the vacancy page forms part of the site that will not load. Contractual engagements are paid on terms no Kendriya Vidyalaya publishes.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.
What has changed on this page
Dated, sourced, and kept even when the change was us correcting ourselves.
Repeated attempts to load the school's website failed over both HTTPS and plain HTTP; the domain resolves to a government s3waas host at 103.195.212.172 and each connection timed out.

KV DGQA Pazhavanthangal, honestly answered
Is KV DGI Complex the same school as KV DGQA Pazhavanthangal?
Yes. CBSE's register writes it as D G Q A Complex, Pazhavanthangal; the sangathan's directory writes it as DGI Complex at Palavanthangal; and its own web domain uses dgicomplex. One campus, holding affiliation 1900022, school code 59024 and KV code 1773.
Why does this page carry no section or roll information?
The school's website did not respond on 16 September 2026 across repeated attempts on both HTTPS and HTTP. Section counts, roll, staffing, facilities and founding year live only there. Nine of the twenty-five Kendriya Vidyalaya sites checked that day failed the same way.
What is DGQA?
The Directorate General of Quality Assurance, the defence ministry organisation responsible for inspecting and certifying military stores and equipment. The school stands in its Chennai complex, which places it on the defence side of the sangathan's sector map, although the school itself does not publish its sector.
Who gets priority for a seat?
On a defence-sponsored campus, children of transferable central government employees including serving defence personnel and ex-servicemen come first in the sangathan's order, followed by the other categories in sequence. The sector here is inferred from the sponsor and should be confirmed. The full order is at /regulators/kvs.
Are Classes 11 and 12 offered?
Yes, CBSE records the school at senior secondary level. Which streams run is not stated in either register and could not be read from the school. Ask directly before planning a Science or Commerce route.
What does it cost?
The sangathan's national schedule: no tuition to Class 8, 200 rupees a month at Classes 9 and 10, 300 or 400 a month at Classes 11 and 12 by stream, a 500 rupee monthly development fund throughout and a 100 rupee computer fund from Class 3, with a one-time admission fee of 25 rupees.
Where is it and how do I get there?
In the DGQA complex at Pazhavanthangal, Chennai 600114, in the southern suburbs on the suburban railway line towards Tambaram, where there is a halt of the same name. The office number in the sangathan's directory is the point of contact while the website is down.
Is CBSE's district listing reliable?
Treat it as an affiliation region rather than a civic boundary. CBSE files this school under Chennai, and it also files the Avadi campus under Chennai although Avadi is a separate municipal corporation. The column tells you which regional list a school belongs to, not which corporation it sits in.
