PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya ASC Centre, Bengaluru
One of the ten regimental schools Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan started with in 1963, still on 15.29 acres off Victoria Road, and the widest senior offer of any KV in this city group.

What this school actually is, and who governs it
This is the oldest Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bengaluru and one of the oldest anywhere. The sangathan began in 1963 by absorbing ten regimental schools run for army units, and the school's own profile names itself as one of them. Sixty-three years later the address has not moved: No. 1 Victoria Road, Bengaluru 560047, inside the Army Service Corps establishment that gives the school its name and its sector. A family reading this should understand what the ASC tag means in practice. It is a defence-sector campus, so the first claim on seats belongs to serving and retired defence personnel, and a civilian household is applying against that order rather than alongside it.
The scale is the second thing to know. The school's own profile puts the campus at 15.29 acres with 85 rooms including laboratories and staff rooms, which makes it physically the largest of the Bengaluru KVs covered here. The homepage counter reads 1,243 boys and 1,227 girls, so a roll of roughly 2,470, and the section table confirms why: five parallel sections in every class from Class 1 to Class 10, with average enrolment per section sitting between 39 and 51. Five sections is one more than the four that KV No. 1 Jalahalli and KV Anna Nagar run, and two more than the three at KV CRPF Yelahanka. A big school is not automatically a better school, but it does change the odds at the Class 1 draw of lots, and it changes how many children a subject teacher sees in a week.
The senior school is where this campus separates itself. The section table lists three Science sections, one Commerce and one Humanities at both Class 11 and Class 12, and the profile page states Science, Commerce and Humanities outright. Humanities at a Kendriya Vidyalaya is not a given: several campuses in this group publish only Science and Commerce. The staffing table backs it up rather than leaving it as a claim, with a PGT in Geography, a PGT in History and a PGT in Economics all filled and in post. If a child is heading for a humanities degree, this is a shorter list of schools to choose from than it looks.
The staffing table also carries the less flattering half, and it is published by the school itself, which is why it can be quoted here. The Vice Principal post has been vacant since 30 November 2025. One of three sanctioned PGT Physics posts and one of three PGT Chemistry posts are unfilled. A TGT Sanskrit post has stood vacant since 2 September 2024, a TGT Social Science post since 20 June 2025 and a TGT English post since 6 May 2025. The sub-staff position is the starkest line on the page: two people in post against fourteen sanctioned, with the gap dating to 31 March 2024. Vacancies of this kind are filled locally on contract while the central recruitment cycle catches up, which is worth asking about at the office rather than assuming either way.
On facilities the school is candid in both directions. It states plainly that it has no Atal Tinkering Laboratory and no digital language laboratory, which many schools would simply have left off the page. What it does have is three computer laboratories each with an internet connection, a digital library described as carrying eleven high-specification systems, and separate Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories. The campus also runs a Balvatika 3 section, the pre-primary year KVS has been rolling out, listed with forty places. As a PM SHRI school it is part of the central scheme for schools designated as exemplars under the National Education Policy 2020, which brings its own funding and reporting but does not change the admission rules.
One caution about numbers on the site: the homepage counter reports 79 employees and then breaks that down as 79 teaching and 4 non-teaching, which does not add up. The teacher vacancy table is the more reliable count, and it lists a sanctioned establishment of roughly ninety teaching posts across PRT, TGT, PGT, Headmistress, Vice Principal and Principal grades. Treat the dashboard figure as decorative and the table as the record.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 11 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 11 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Class 12 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 12 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
Nothing in this table is set by the school. Every Kendriya Vidyalaya in the country charges the same sangathan-wide schedule, so the figures above are the KVS schedule read from the fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and not re-fetched since; kvsangathan.nic.in has not responded on later attempts, so treat the amounts as last confirmed on that date rather than as checked today. The shape of it: no tuition at all from Class 1 to Class 8, tuition beginning only at Class 9, and the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi at 500 rupees a month being the line that actually dominates a family's monthly bill. Girls in Classes 6 to 12, children from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families, children of KVS employees and children admitted under the 25 per cent Right to Education quota are exempt from tuition on the sangathan's own terms. Confirm the current figures at the school counter before you budget.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
Six years old as on 31 March of the year of admission for Class 1, with a child born on 1 April also counted, and an upper bound below eight. The guidelines publish a band for every class up to Class 10 on the same 31 March reckoning, so a Class 5 applicant must be between ten and twelve. The bands are sangathan rules and the school applies them without local variation.
Class 1 registration runs online and is announced by newspaper advertisement against a schedule the Bengaluru Regional Office issues, usually in the first months of the calendar year for the session beginning in April. Balvatika and Class 1 dates for 2026-27 were extended once, per the notice carried on the school's own homepage. Every other class is filled against the vacancy table on this school's site, which is updated through the year.
What to have ready
- Birth certificate showing a date of birth inside the Class 1 band
- Service certificate and transfer record for the parent claiming a defence or central government priority
- Transfer certificate from the previous school for any class above Class 1
- Caste or tribe certificate, or OBC non-creamy-layer certificate, where a reserved seat is claimed
- Disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs seat
- Proof of residence for a Right to Education claim
- Recent photographs of the child
The steps, in order
- 1.Check this school's own student vacancy page first, because for Classes 2 to 12 the seats it lists are the only seats that exist.
- 2.For Class 1 and Balvatika, register on the KVS online portal during the advertised window; there is no counter application.
- 3.Establish your priority category with documents at the verification stage, since the order of priority, not the order of application, decides who is admitted.
- 4.For Class 9, sit the written admission test the sangathan prescribes.
- 5.Attend the draw of lots where a category is oversubscribed, and watch this school's updates page, which is where the provisional and cancelled lists are posted.
- 6.Read the full shared rulebook at /regulators/kvs before you apply, because almost every rule that decides your outcome is written there and not here.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
Science, Commerce and Humanities, all three, which is the reason to look at this campus over a nearer one. The section table gives Science three sections at Class 11 and three at Class 12, Commerce one at each level, and Humanities one at each. The Humanities offer is corroborated by filled PGT posts in History, Geography and Economics rather than by a prospectus line. Computer Science carries two PGTs, so it runs as an elective rather than as a promise.
Languages
Hindi and Sanskrit are the two languages with sanctioned teaching posts here: four TGT Hindi posts, all filled, and two TGT Sanskrit posts of which one has been empty since September 2024. English is taught as a subject from the primary years and carries five sanctioned TGT posts. The site does not publish a policy statement on medium of instruction, nor does it offer Kannada as a subject on any page reached, which is worth a direct question for a family that wants the state language taught.
What it is known for
Being one of the ten original 1963 regimental schools, the 15.29-acre campus with 85 rooms, and a Humanities stream at Class 11 and 12 staffed by PGTs in History, Geography and Economics.

Teaching jobs at KV ASC Centre
Roles this kind of school hires for
- Vice Principal, a post the school records as vacant since November 2025
- PGT Physics and PGT Chemistry, one sanctioned post empty in each
- TGT Sanskrit, vacant on the school's own table since September 2024
- TGT Social Science and TGT English, each one post short
- Primary teachers across the five-section primary block
- Sub-staff and laboratory support, where two of fourteen sanctioned posts are filled
When hiring actually runs
Two cycles that do not overlap. Contractual and part-time appointments are made by this school shortly before the session opens, so interviews cluster in April, May and June, and the school posts walk-in notices on its own updates feed. Regular PGT, TGT and PRT posts are filled centrally by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan whenever it notifies a recruitment drive, on its own timetable, and the school has no say in when that happens.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
Pay follows the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix and is published, which is unusual enough to be the strongest single argument for a KV job. A Kendriya Vidyalaya disclosure of the KVS salary table puts Primary Teachers at Level 6, 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees; Trained Graduate Teachers at Level 7, 44,900 to 1,42,400; Post Graduate Teachers at Level 8, 47,600 to 1,51,100; Vice Principals at Level 10 and Principals at Level 12. These are the regular scales. Contractual appointments made by the school before a session are paid on different terms and the school does not publish them.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

KV ASC Centre, honestly answered
Can my child take Humanities at Class 11 here?
Yes. The school's section table lists one Humanities section at Class 11 and one at Class 12, alongside three Science sections and one Commerce section at each level. Filled PGT posts in History, Geography and Economics appear on the staffing table, which is better evidence that the stream runs than a subject list would be.
Is this a defence school? Can a civilian family get in?
It sits inside the Army Service Corps establishment on Victoria Road and is a defence-sector Kendriya Vidyalaya. Civilians are not excluded, but they sit low in the sangathan's priority order, behind children of transferable central government employees and ex-servicemen and behind several other categories. The full order is at /regulators/kvs.
How big are the classes?
Five parallel sections from Class 1 to Class 10, with the school's own table giving average enrolment per section between about 39 and 51 depending on the year group. Class 9 was the fullest at the last update, at 257 children across five sections.
What will it actually cost per month?
There is no tuition fee at all from Class 1 to Class 8. From Class 9 tuition is 200 rupees a month, and at Class 11 and 12 it is 300 for Commerce or Humanities and 400 for Science. On top of that sit the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi at 500 rupees a month and a computer fund of 100 rupees a month from Class 3. Girls in Classes 6 to 12, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children and Right to Education admissions are exempt from tuition.
Does the school have an Atal Tinkering Lab?
No, and the school says so itself on its homepage, along with the fact that it has no digital language laboratory. What it does list is three internet-connected computer laboratories, a digital library of eleven high-specification systems and separate Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories.
Is there a Balvatika class?
Balvatika 3 runs with one section of forty places. The school's homepage carried a notice during 2026 about the last date for Balvatika 1 and 3 online registration being extended and the draw of lots rescheduled, so the dates move and the notice board is the thing to watch.
Which second languages are taught?
Hindi and Sanskrit are the two with sanctioned teaching posts on the staffing table, four in Hindi and two in Sanskrit. Kannada does not appear on any page reached, so a family that wants the state language taught should ask the office directly rather than assume it runs.
How do I apply for a teaching job here?
Regular posts go through Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's central recruitment, which runs when the sangathan notifies it. Contractual and part-time appointments are made by this school itself, usually through walk-in interviews advertised on its own updates feed between April and June. The school's teacher vacancy page is the place to watch.
