Kendriya Vidyalaya NAL, Bengaluru
A project-sector Kendriya Vidyalaya raised for the children of two aerospace institutions, on roughly six acres between the National Aerospace Laboratories and ISRO.

What this school actually is, and who governs it
Most Kendriya Vidyalayas belong to one of four sectors, and the sector decides who gets a seat before anything else does. This one is project sector, and its own genesis page says so in a single unambiguous sentence: the school was established under the project sector and caters mainly to the educational needs of the wards of employees of the National Aerospace Laboratories and the Indian Space Research Organisation, and then others. That phrase, and then others, is the whole story for an outside family. You are not shut out, but you are behind a very specific queue, and the queue is drawn from two of the country's larger scientific employers, both of them next door.
The location is unusually well described by the school itself. It puts the campus on about six acres in the vicinity of NAL and ISRO, very close to the Jeevan Bhima Nagar bus terminal, with the postal address at NAL Campus, Vimanapura Post, Bengaluru 560017. The site describes the grounds as green and the garden as the first thing a visitor notices, which is the sort of thing a school says about itself and worth nothing on its own, except that the six-acre figure is small enough to be credible rather than promotional. For comparison, the ASC Centre campus on Victoria Road claims fifteen acres.
Two of the school's own pages disagree about how many children are in it. The genesis page says about 1,800 students are on roll from Class 1 to Class 12 with a staff of about 56. The homepage counter says 924 boys and 814 girls, which totals 1,738, and gives 58 employees split as 53 teaching and 5 non-teaching. Neither number is wrong enough to matter to a parent deciding whether to apply, but the gap is a reminder that nothing on a school website is audited, and that the section table is the page to trust when you need a number that affects you.
That section table gives four parallel sections in Class 2 through Class 9, three in Class 10, and average enrolment per section between 40 and 48.5. It carries no Class 11 or Class 12 rows at all, and it shows zero fresh seats available in every class it lists, both facts read at the last update on 3 April 2026. The senior end is therefore a gap in the public record: the genesis page says the school prepares pupils for CBSE examinations at the end of Class 10 and Class 12, so Class 11 and Class 12 evidently run, but which streams they offer and how many sections each has is not published anywhere on the site. It is the first question to ask if you are moving a child into the senior years.
The staffing table is where a family with a Class 9 or Class 10 child should slow down. No Post Graduate Teacher in Physics is in post against two sanctioned, a gap the school dates to 1 April 2025. Two of four TGT Mathematics posts are empty, two of four in English, one of three in Science, and one of three in Social Science, that last one vacant since 1 April 2019. Twenty-one Primary Teachers are in post against twenty-four sanctioned. A sanctioned Special Educator post for the primary years is unfilled. Kendriya Vidyalayas fill gaps like these with contractual teachers appointed locally, and this school does advertise such interviews, but a seven-year vacancy in a core subject post is a fair thing to raise at the office.
The facilities list is stronger than the sister schools on one axis. Unlike the ASC Centre campus, KV NAL states that it has both an Atal Tinkering Laboratory, with training classes running, and a digital language laboratory. Given the sponsoring institutions, a tinkering lab is the facility you would expect this campus of all of them to have. The site also carries a contradiction worth flagging before you dial: the contact page gives the telephone number with a 020 prefix, which belongs to Pune, while the sangathan's own directory lists the school on 080 25275473. Use the directory number.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 11 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 11 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Class 12 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 12 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
A single national schedule covers every Kendriya Vidyalaya, so these are not this campus's numbers and the school cannot change them. They were read from the sangathan's fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and have not been re-fetched since, because that host has not responded on later attempts; the date, not today, is what the figures are good as of. Two practical points a parent often misses. First, the twenty-five rupee admission fee is genuinely twenty-five rupees, not a typographical error. Second, the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi at 500 rupees a month is larger than the tuition it sits beside and is charged from the primary years, where tuition is nil, so the monthly outgoing at Class 3 is the development fund plus the hundred rupee computer fund rather than nothing at all. Exemptions from tuition apply to girls in Classes 6 to 12, to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children, to children of KVS staff and to Right to Education admissions.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
For Class 1 the child must have turned six by 31 March of the admission year and must not have turned eight; a child born exactly on 1 April counts as eligible. Higher classes each carry a two-year age band on the same cut-off date, so Class 5 runs ten to under twelve and Class 10 fourteen to under sixteen. None of this is set locally.
The Class 1 and Balvatika registration window is announced centrally by advertisement and opens on the KVS online portal for a few weeks early in the calendar year. For every other class the school's own vacancy table is the live document, and at its last update it showed no fresh seats anywhere, which is the honest answer to whether a mid-year move is likely to succeed here.
What to have ready
- Proof of date of birth for the applicant
- Employment and transfer evidence for the parent, which for this school usually means a NAL or ISRO service record
- Transfer certificate from the school last attended
- Reservation certificate where a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC non-creamy-layer seat is sought
- Certificate of disability for a Child with Special Needs claim
- Address proof for a Right to Education application
The steps, in order
- 1.Decide first whether your household falls inside the project-sector priority, because at this campus that is what most applications turn on.
- 2.Watch the school's own updates feed, which is where its admission notices, provisional lists and cancellation lists appear.
- 3.Register online for Class 1 or Balvatika inside the advertised window; nothing is accepted at the counter for those classes.
- 4.For Class 9, take the written test the sangathan prescribes for that entry point.
- 5.For Classes 2 to 8 and 10 to 12, apply only against a seat shown on the vacancy page, and expect to be placed in a category queue rather than a first-come list.
- 6.The complete set of rules, priorities and quotas is set out at /regulators/kvs.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
Not published. The genesis page states that the school prepares pupils for the CBSE examinations at the end of Class 10 and Class 12, so a senior school exists, but the section table stops at Class 10 and no page reached names the Class 11 and Class 12 streams or their subject combinations. That is a real gap rather than an oversight on our part, and until the school publishes it, a family planning a Science or Commerce route should ask before committing.
Languages
Hindi is taught and English is taught, both with sanctioned TGT posts on the staffing table, two of four English posts being vacant at the last update. The school additionally lists a digital language laboratory among its facilities, which the older ASC Centre campus explicitly does not have. No page reached names Sanskrit, Kannada or any third-language option, so the second-language choice at Class 6 is a question for the office.
What it is known for
Its sponsors. This is a project-sector school raised for the children of the National Aerospace Laboratories and the Indian Space Research Organisation, and it is the campus in this group that lists both an Atal Tinkering Laboratory and a digital language laboratory.
Second languages listed for this school
Language options are set by the school and can differ between year groups. Confirm the combination for your child’s entry grade in writing before accepting a seat. Full list across every school: filter schools by second language.

Teaching jobs at KV NAL
Roles this kind of school hires for
- PGT Physics, where the school records no teacher in post against two sanctioned since April 2025
- TGT Mathematics and TGT English, two sanctioned posts vacant in each
- TGT Social Science, a post the school's table dates as vacant since April 2019
- TGT Science, one of three sanctioned posts unfilled
- Primary Teachers, twenty-one in post against twenty-four sanctioned
- Special Educator for the primary years, a sanctioned post with nobody in it
When hiring actually runs
This school advertises need-based contractual appointments and publishes both the interview dates and the resulting panel on its own updates feed; recent notices ran through July, August and September for the 2026-27 session, which is later in the year than the April to June pattern many Kendriya Vidyalayas follow. Regular appointments are made centrally by the sangathan, whenever it opens a recruitment drive.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
The regular scales are public because Kendriya Vidyalayas are required to disclose them, and they run on the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix: Level 6 for a Primary Teacher at 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees, Level 7 for a Trained Graduate Teacher at 44,900 to 1,42,400, Level 8 for a Post Graduate Teacher at 47,600 to 1,51,100, with Librarians and Finance Officers also at Level 7 and Junior Secretariat Assistants at Level 2. The contractual and part-time appointments this school makes locally are paid on separate terms that it does not publish.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

KV NAL, honestly answered
Do I need to work at NAL or ISRO to get a seat?
No, but it helps more here than almost anywhere else in the city. The school describes itself as a project-sector Kendriya Vidyalaya catering mainly to the wards of NAL and ISRO employees and then to others. Outside families sit further down the sangathan's priority order, which is published in full at /regulators/kvs.
Which streams run at Class 11 and Class 12?
The school does not publish this. Its genesis page confirms pupils are prepared for CBSE examinations at Class 10 and Class 12, but the section table lists nothing above Class 10 and no other page reached names the senior streams. Ask the office directly before planning a Science or Commerce route.
Are there any seats free right now?
At the last update of the school's vacancy table, dated 3 April 2026, fresh admissions available read zero in every class from 2 to 10. That table is updated through the year and is the only reliable place to look, because for Classes 2 upward the seats it lists are the only ones that exist.
How much does a Kendriya Vidyalaya cost here?
The same as every other Kendriya Vidyalaya in India, because the schedule is national. No tuition to Class 8; 200 rupees a month at Classes 9 and 10; 300 or 400 a month at Classes 11 and 12 depending on stream; a 500 rupee monthly development fund and a 100 rupee computer fund from Class 3. Admission itself costs 25 rupees.
Does the school have an Atal Tinkering Lab?
Yes. The homepage lists an Atal Tinkering Laboratory with training classes running, and a digital language laboratory alongside it. Both are listed as present, which is not the case at every Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bengaluru.
Which number should I call?
The sangathan's directory gives 080 25275473. The school's own contact page prints a number with an 020 prefix, which is Pune's code and appears to be an error carried on the page. If one does not connect, try the other.
How many children are in a class?
Four sections in each year from Class 2 to Class 9 and three in Class 10, with the school's own averages running between 40 and 48.5 children a section. Class 8 was the fullest at the last update, at 194 children across four sections.
How does hiring work at this school?
Two routes. Regular Post Graduate, Trained Graduate and Primary Teacher posts are recruited centrally by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan when it notifies a drive. Need-based contractual teachers are appointed by this school itself, and it publishes the interview dates and the selected panel on its own updates feed, recently in July, August and September.
