Kendriya Vidyalaya IISc, Bengaluru
The Kendriya Vidyalaya inside the Indian Institute of Science campus, and the only Bengaluru school in this set whose sponsor is a university-grade research institution.
No published inspection grade
KVS has not published a grade we can link to for this school, so none is printed here. Ask the school which inspection year its last report covers.

What this school actually is, and who governs it
Of the fifteen Kendriya Vidyalayas that CBSE files under Bengaluru Urban, this is the one attached to an institution of the kind the sangathan calls an Institute of Higher Learning. The register gives its address simply as Indian Institute of Science, Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore, and the sangathan's directory expands that to IISc Campus, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru 560012. The other Bengaluru campuses answer to an army centre, two air force stations, a paramilitary group centre, a defence research complex, two railway employers or an aerospace laboratory. This one answers to a postgraduate research institute, and if the pattern at the comparable Chennai campus holds, that shapes both its intake and its character.
That comparable campus is worth naming because it is the closest thing to a window on this one. Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI at Adyar in Chennai, attached to the Central Leather Research Institute, publishes its sector as Institute of Higher Learning in plain words on its own site, and runs three sections a class, a biotechnology laboratory and a roll in which girls outnumber boys. Whether any of that describes KV IISc is unknown. What can be said is that in the sangathan's admission priority order, children of employees of Institutes of Higher Learning under the Government of India form a named category, sitting in the second tier alongside autonomous body and public sector undertaking employees, and that is the mechanism by which a research institute's staff get their children into the school on its campus.
The reason for the caution is simple. The school's own website could not be reached at any point on 16 September 2026. Its domain resolves to a government s3waas host at 103.195.210.177 and every connection attempt, secure or plain, hangs until it expires. A cluster of Kendriya Vidyalaya sites sharing that address range behaved the same way that day, while others on different addresses were served normally, so this is an infrastructure fault and not a school that has gone quiet. Section counts, roll, streams, staffing and founding year all live on that site and none of them could be read.
One register detail distinguishes this school from most of its Bengaluru siblings and is worth recording. CBSE's register names it simply as Kendriya Vidyalaya, without the PM SHRI prefix that the ASC Centre, MEG Centre, Hebbal, Malleswaram, Jalahalli, Yelahanka and M G Railway Colony entries all carry. The PM SHRI scheme designates selected schools as exemplars for implementing the National Education Policy 2020, and the absence of the prefix in a register that applies it liberally elsewhere suggests this campus is not currently designated. It affects funding and reporting rather than admission, but it is a real difference between this school and most of the others in the city.
CBSE records the school at senior secondary level, so Classes 11 and 12 run, and the sangathan's directory gives the KV code as 1047 and names the principal as N Y Amrutha Bala. The streams are not stated in either register. Everything else on this page is the national framework, which applies to this campus as surely as to any other, and which is the part of the record a site outage cannot damage.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 11 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 11 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Class 12 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 12 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
A campus attached to a research institute charges exactly what a campus attached to an air force station charges, because Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan sets one schedule for the country and leaves nothing to local discretion. These amounts came off the sangathan's fee-structure page on 16 September 2026; that host has not responded since, so they are good as of that date only and should be confirmed at the office. The structure is worth restating because it is unusual: admission costs 25 rupees once, tuition is nil from Class 1 to Class 8 and begins at 200 rupees a month only at Class 9, and the charge that actually recurs throughout is the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi at 500 rupees a month, joined from Class 3 by a computer fund of 100. Tuition is waived for girls in Classes 6 to 12, for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe pupils, for children of sangathan employees and for Right to Education admissions.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
Six completed years on 31 March of the admission year and an age below eight for Class 1, with a 1 April birthday treated as eligible, and published two-year bands for every class up to Class 10 on the same reference date. These are sangathan rules and cannot be relaxed by a campus.
Class 1 registration opens online for a short advertised period set by the Bengaluru Regional Office. What is free above Class 1 would normally be read off this school's own vacancy table, and that table sits on a website that will not load, so availability here is simply unknown and has to be obtained by telephone.
What to have ready
- Birth certificate placing the child inside the applicable band
- Employment certificate for the parent, which at a campus of this kind will often be an Institute of Higher Learning appointment
- Record of the parent's transfers over the past seven years, used to order applicants inside a category
- Transfer certificate from the previous school for any class above the first
- Community certificate for a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC non-creamy-layer seat, and a disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs claim
- Address proof for a Right to Education application
The steps, in order
- 1.Establish whether your household falls inside the Institute of Higher Learning category, which the sangathan lists in the second tier of its priority order.
- 2.Telephone the school for seat information, since its vacancy table cannot be reached.
- 3.Ask which streams run at Classes 11 and 12; senior secondary status is confirmed but the subjects are not.
- 4.Register online during the advertised window for Class 1.
- 5.For Class 9, sit the sangathan's single written paper covering Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science and Science.
- 6.The full priority order, the reservation percentages and the Right to Education route are set out at /regulators/kvs.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
Confirmed to exist and not otherwise described. CBSE's register carries the school at senior secondary level, so Classes 11 and 12 operate, but neither register names a stream and the school's own pages were unreachable. The nearest analogue, KV CLRI at Adyar, runs two Science sections and one Commerce section at each senior level; whether this campus matches that pattern is unknown and should not be assumed.
Languages
Unknown beyond Hindi, which is taught across the whole Kendriya Vidyalaya system and is recorded here for that reason. Whether Sanskrit or Kannada is available as a further option at Class 6 could not be checked. At the Bengaluru campuses whose staffing tables were readable, Sanskrit posts were widely sanctioned but very often vacant, and Kannada did not appear on any page at all.
What it is known for
Being the Bengaluru Kendriya Vidyalaya attached to the Indian Institute of Science, and one of the few in the city that CBSE's register does not carry with the PM SHRI prefix.
Second languages listed for this school
Language options are set by the school and can differ between year groups. Confirm the combination for your child’s entry grade in writing before accepting a seat. Full list across every school: filter schools by second language.

Teaching jobs at KV IISc
Roles this kind of school hires for
- Post Graduate Teachers for the senior secondary classes the register confirms run here
- Trained Graduate Teachers across the middle school
- Primary teachers, normally the largest single group on a Kendriya Vidyalaya establishment
- Laboratory and library staff, the kind of post a campus inside a research institute is most likely to sanction
- Contractual teachers engaged locally against sanctioned posts that central recruitment has not filled
When hiring actually runs
Two routes, as everywhere in the system. Contractual and part-time appointments are made by the school around the April opening of the session and advertised on its own site, which is currently unreachable. Regular appointments are made by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan through national recruitment notified at its own intervals, with successful candidates posted wherever the sangathan needs them rather than to a campus of their choosing.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
Published and uniform across the sangathan, which is the strongest argument for a Kendriya Vidyalaya post over a private school one: Primary Teacher at 7th Central Pay Commission Level 6, 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees; Trained Graduate Teacher at Level 7, 44,900 to 1,42,400; Post Graduate Teacher at Level 8, 47,600 to 1,51,100; Vice Principal at Level 10, 56,100 to 1,77,500; Principal at Level 12, 78,800 to 2,09,200. Which posts are open at this campus cannot be seen, because the vacancy page is part of the site that will not load. Contractual engagements are paid on separate terms that are never published.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.
What has changed on this page
Dated, sourced, and kept even when the change was us correcting ourselves.
The school's website could not be reached on any attempt; the domain resolves to a government s3waas host at 103.195.210.177 and the connection times out over both HTTPS and HTTP. Several Kendriya Vidyalaya sites in the same address range failed identically while others served normally.

KV IISc, honestly answered
Do I need to work at IISc to get a seat?
Not strictly, but it is the main route. Children of employees of Institutes of Higher Learning under the Government of India are a named category in the sangathan's priority order, sitting in the second tier. Everyone else falls behind that and behind central government transferable employees. The full order is at /regulators/kvs.
Why is there no detail about classes or sections?
The school's website did not respond at any point on 16 September 2026, and that is where section counts, roll figures, streams and staffing tables live. The domain resolves but the connection times out. Nothing has been estimated to cover the gap.
Is the school a PM SHRI school?
Apparently not. CBSE's register names it simply as Kendriya Vidyalaya, while most other Bengaluru entries in the same register carry a PM SHRI prefix. The designation affects central funding and reporting rather than admission, so its absence does not change who is eligible.
Are Classes 11 and 12 offered?
Yes, CBSE records the school at senior secondary level. Which streams run is not stated by either register. At KV CLRI in Chennai, the closest comparable campus attached to a research institute, the offer is Science and Commerce, but that should not be assumed here.
What does it cost?
The national Kendriya Vidyalaya schedule, identical to every other campus: no tuition to Class 8, 200 rupees a month at Classes 9 and 10, 300 or 400 a month in Classes 11 and 12 depending on stream, a 500 rupee monthly development fund throughout and a 100 rupee computer fund from Class 3. Admission is 25 rupees.
Where is the school?
Inside the Indian Institute of Science campus at Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru 560012. Note that it is a different school from KV Railway Yeshwanthpur, which sits near the railway station in the same part of the city under a separate affiliation number.
Who is the principal?
The sangathan's directory names N Y Amrutha Bala and CBSE's register carries the same name. Where two independent registers agree, as they do here, the entry is more likely to be current than where they differ, which is the case at several other campuses in this set.
How can I find out about seats?
By contacting the school directly. Kendriya Vidyalayas publish vacancy tables on their own sites, but this one cannot be reached, so the usual method of checking availability before applying is not available here.
