Kendriya Vidyalaya Krishnarajapuram, Bengaluru
The Diesel Loco Shed school at K R Puram, and one of only two Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bengaluru that CBSE affiliates at secondary level rather than senior secondary.

What this school actually is, and who governs it
The single most important fact about this school is the one most likely to be missed, because it is buried in a status column rather than announced anywhere. CBSE's affiliated-schools register carries Kendriya Vidyalaya Krishnarajapuram at secondary level, not at senior secondary level. Of the fifteen Kendriya Vidyalayas the register files under Bengaluru Urban, thirteen are senior secondary and only two, this one and KV Railway Yeshwanthpur, are secondary. In practice that means the school takes children to Class 10 and then they must move, and a family enrolling a six-year-old here is signing up to one transfer at fifteen that a family at the ASC Centre or the MEG campus would not have to make.
That is not a criticism of the school. Secondary-level affiliation is a sanction question rather than a quality one, and plenty of Kendriya Vidyalayas run for decades at that level before being upgraded. But it is the kind of structural fact that ought to be at the top of a school page rather than discovered in Class 9, and it is the reason this record exists in its own right rather than as a footnote to the larger campuses.
The sponsor is written into the address. Both registers place the school at the Diesel Loco Shed, Krishnarajapuram, Bengaluru 560036, which is one of the South Western Railway's major locomotive maintenance establishments. Railway-sponsored Kendriya Vidyalayas in this city, such as the M G Railway Colony school behind Bengaluru City station, sit in the civil sector rather than the defence one, and the M G Railway campus publishes its sanction document saying exactly that. Whether the same applies here is a reasonable expectation and not a verified fact, because this school's own site could not be read.
It could not be read at all, in fact. Every attempt made on 16 September 2026 failed the same way: the domain resolves to a government s3waas host at 103.195.210.197 and the connection then hangs until it times out, over HTTPS and over plain HTTP, on separate attempts spaced apart. The same behaviour appeared at a handful of other Kendriya Vidyalaya addresses in the same block while neighbouring sites on different addresses returned pages normally, which makes this a hosting fault rather than anything about the school. The consequence is that section counts, roll, staffing and founding year are all unknown here.
Two register facts remain to be recorded. The sangathan's directory gives the KV code as 2246, which is a much higher number than the 1044 to 1056 block occupied by the older Bengaluru schools and suggests a considerably later sanction. And CBSE's register names this school simply as Kendriya Vidyalaya, without the PM SHRI prefix that most of the city's entries carry, so it does not appear to be designated under that scheme. The head is named as Md Nasimuddin in CBSE's register and Md Nasiuddin in the sangathan's directory, a one-letter difference that is almost certainly a typing error in one of the two.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
This table stops where the school stops. Because CBSE affiliates this campus at secondary level, there are no Classes 11 or 12 here and therefore no senior tuition rates to quote, which is why the 300 and 400 rupee rows that appear on other Kendriya Vidyalaya pages are absent from this one. Everything shown is the sangathan's national schedule, read from its fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and not re-fetched since because that host has stopped responding, so the amounts are warranted as of that date. For a family here the whole recurring cost is 500 rupees a month from Class 1, 600 from Class 3 once the computer fund starts, and 800 at Classes 9 and 10 once tuition of 200 a month begins. Girls in Classes 6 to 10, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children, children of sangathan employees and Right to Education admissions pay no tuition at all.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
Class 1 requires six completed years on 31 March of the admission year and an age under eight, and a child born on 1 April is inside the window. The sangathan publishes a band for each class up to Class 10, which at this campus is every class it teaches. So a Class 10 applicant here must be between fourteen and sixteen on that date.
Class 1 registration runs online in an advertised window fixed by the Bengaluru Regional Office. Vacancies in Classes 2 to 10 would normally be published on this school's own site, which cannot be reached, so the position must be obtained by telephone. Note also that there is no Class 11 intake here at all, because the school does not teach it.
What to have ready
- Birth certificate placing the child inside the band for the class applied for
- Railway or other central government service certificate for the parent, with transfer history
- Transfer certificate from the previous school for any class above the first
- Community certificate where a reserved seat is claimed, including OBC non-creamy-layer
- Disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs seat
- Proof of residence for a Right to Education application
The steps, in order
- 1.Understand before you apply that this school ends at Class 10, so a move to another school is built into the plan.
- 2.Ask the office which nearby Kendriya Vidyalaya its Class 10 leavers typically transfer into and on what basis.
- 3.Telephone for seat information, because the school's vacancy table is on a site that will not load.
- 4.Register online in the advertised window for Class 1.
- 5.For Class 9, sit the sangathan's written admission test covering five subjects in one three-hour paper.
- 6.The shared rules on priority, reservations and the Right to Education route are set out at /regulators/kvs.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
None, and that is the defining fact. CBSE affiliates this school at secondary level, so it prepares pupils for the Class 10 board examination and does not offer Classes 11 or 12. There are no Science, Commerce or Humanities streams to choose between here. A pupil finishing Class 10 must move to a senior secondary school, which within the Kendriya Vidyalaya system means a transfer to another campus subject to that campus having a seat.
Languages
Unknown beyond Hindi, which is taught throughout the Kendriya Vidyalaya system. The school's own pages, where any second or third language provision would be published, could not be reached. At Bengaluru campuses whose staffing tables were readable, Sanskrit appeared as a sanctioned subject at most senior secondary schools and was frequently unstaffed; whether a secondary-level campus of this size sanctions it at all is not something the registers record.
What it is known for
Being one of only two Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bengaluru affiliated at secondary rather than senior secondary level, and its attachment to the Diesel Loco Shed at Krishnarajapuram.

Teaching jobs at KV Krishnarajapuram
Roles this kind of school hires for
- Trained Graduate Teachers, who carry the bulk of the teaching at a school that ends at Class 10
- Primary teachers across the lower classes
- Librarian and specialist posts in art, music, work education and physical education
- Administrative posts including Senior and Junior Secretariat Assistants
- Locally engaged contractual teachers against sanctioned posts awaiting central recruitment
When hiring actually runs
Because there is no senior secondary section here, the Post Graduate Teacher grade is largely absent and the recruitment pattern leans towards Trained Graduate and Primary Teacher posts. Contractual hiring is done by the school around the April start of the session; regular posts come through Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's national drives, notified centrally at intervals the sangathan chooses.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
The published 7th Central Pay Commission levels apply here as at every Kendriya Vidyalaya, and a secondary-level school pays the same as a senior secondary one for the same grade: Primary Teacher Level 6 at 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees, Trained Graduate Teacher Level 7 at 44,900 to 1,42,400, Librarian also at Level 7, Senior Secretariat Assistant Level 4 at 25,500 to 81,100 and Junior Secretariat Assistant Level 2 at 19,900 to 63,200. Post Graduate Teacher posts at Level 8 are unlikely to arise at a campus without Classes 11 and 12. Contractual terms are not published.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

KV Krishnarajapuram, honestly answered
Does this school go up to Class 12?
No. CBSE affiliates it at secondary level, which means it teaches to Class 10 and no further. Only two of the fifteen Kendriya Vidyalayas that CBSE files under Bengaluru Urban are in that position, this one and KV Railway Yeshwanthpur. Plan for a transfer at the end of Class 10.
Which streams are offered at Class 11?
None, because Class 11 does not exist here. A pupil completing Class 10 must move to a senior secondary school. Ask the office which Kendriya Vidyalayas its leavers usually transfer into, and on what basis seats are allocated for such a move.
Why is there no information about sections or staff?
The school's website did not respond on 16 September 2026. The domain resolves but every connection times out, on both HTTPS and HTTP. Section counts, roll, staffing and founding year are published only there, so none could be read and none has been guessed at.
Who sponsors the school?
Neither register says in so many words, but both put the school at the Diesel Loco Shed at Krishnarajapuram, a South Western Railway locomotive establishment. The comparable railway-sponsored Kendriya Vidyalaya in the city, at M G Railway Colony, publishes its sector as civil, so the same is likely here but should be confirmed.
What does it cost?
500 rupees a month from Class 1 for the development fund, 600 from Class 3 once the computer fund is added, and 800 at Classes 9 and 10 once tuition of 200 a month starts. Admission is a one-time 25 rupees. There are no senior secondary rates here because there is no senior secondary section.
Is it a PM SHRI school?
It does not appear to be. CBSE's register names it simply Kendriya Vidyalaya, while most Bengaluru entries in that same register carry the PM SHRI prefix. The designation affects funding and reporting rather than who may be admitted.
Who is the principal?
CBSE's register gives Md Nasimuddin and the sangathan's directory gives Md Nasiuddin. The one-letter difference is almost certainly a transcription error rather than two people, but telephone the school before using either spelling in writing.
Is this a newer school than the others in the city?
Probably. Its KV code is 2246, well outside the 1044 to 1056 block that the older Bengaluru campuses occupy, which usually indicates a considerably later sanction. The actual founding year is published only on the school's own site and could not be read.
