Overview

What this school actually is, and who governs it

Two very different Kendriya Vidyalayas carry Yeshwanthpur in their address and they are constantly confused. One sits inside the Indian Institute of Science campus under affiliation 800012 and runs to Class 12. This one sits in the railway colony near Yeshwanthpur station under affiliation 800155 and, according to CBSE's register, stops at Class 10. A family that assumes the two are interchangeable because they share a locality name will discover the difference in Class 9, which is the worst moment to discover it.

The secondary-level affiliation is the fact to carry away. CBSE files fifteen Kendriya Vidyalayas under Bengaluru Urban and grants thirteen of them senior secondary status; this school and the Krishnarajapuram campus at the Diesel Loco Shed are the two exceptions. Secondary status means Classes 11 and 12 are not sanctioned here, there are no streams to choose between, and every pupil transfers out after the Class 10 board examination. Nothing about that reflects on the teaching; it reflects on what the sangathan has sanctioned, and sanctions do change over time, but a parent should plan on the position as it stands rather than on an upgrade that may not come.

The school's affiliation number is also the highest of any Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Bengaluru register, 800155 against a cluster running from 800001 to 800040 for the rest, and its KV code, 2418, is the highest in the city as well. Both point to a comparatively recent sanction. The address in the sangathan's directory is Kendriya Vidyalaya Railway Colony, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru 560022, and CBSE's register adds the detail near railway station. The telephone number listed is 080 23372277.

Beyond the registers, nothing could be established, and the reason is worth stating precisely rather than vaguely. The school's website was tried repeatedly on 16 September 2026, over HTTPS and over plain HTTP, with gaps between attempts. Every time, the domain resolved correctly to a government s3waas host at 103.195.210.196 and the connection then stalled without ever completing, expiring after thirty seconds. A group of Kendriya Vidyalaya sites sharing that address range behaved identically while others elsewhere responded in under a second, so the fault lies in the hosting rather than in the school. Section counts, roll, staffing, facilities and founding year are all published only there and therefore remain unknown.

One further register detail: CBSE names the school Kendriya Vidyalaya Railway Yeshwanthpur, without the PM SHRI prefix that most of the city's entries carry, so it does not appear to be designated under that scheme. Both registers agree that the head is C Valmiki, which in this collection of twenty-five schools is the minority case; several campuses have conflicting names across the two sources. Where the registers agree, the entry is likelier to be current.

Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.

Fees

What it costs, and where that number comes from

We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.

2026-27 tuition, by grade

Published schedule
Kendriya Vidyalaya Railway Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru annual tuition by grade, 2026-27, in INR
GradeAnnual tuition (INR)
Class 9 tuition, per month200
Class 10 tuition, per month200
Computer fund from Class 3, per month100
Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month500
Admission fee, one time25

No senior secondary rows appear in this table because the school has no senior secondary section; the 300 and 400 rupee monthly tuition rates that apply at Classes 11 and 12 elsewhere are simply not reachable here. What is shown is the sangathan's national schedule as it applies to Classes 1 to 10, read from the fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and not re-fetched since, because that host stopped responding; the amounts are warranted as of that date and should be confirmed at the office. The practical shape for a family: 500 rupees a month from the first day of Class 1, 600 a month from Class 3 when the computer fund begins, and 800 a month in Classes 9 and 10 once tuition starts. Girls in Classes 6 to 10, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children, children of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan employees and Right to Education admissions pay no tuition.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.

Admissions

Getting a seat

Age and timing

The Class 1 requirement is six completed years on 31 March of the admission year, below eight, with a 1 April birthday inside the window. Bands are published for every class through Class 10, which at this campus is the whole of the school, so the Class 10 band of fourteen to under sixteen is the top of the range that matters here.

Class 1 registration is online during an advertised window set by the Bengaluru Regional Office. Seat availability in Classes 2 to 10 would be published on the school's own vacancy table, which is on a website that cannot currently be loaded, so it has to be asked for on 080 23372277. There is no Class 11 intake to enquire about.

What to have ready

  • Birth certificate showing the child falls inside the band for the class sought
  • Railway or other central government service certificate for the parent, with the seven-year transfer record
  • Transfer certificate from the previous school for entry at Class 2 or above
  • Community certificate for a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC non-creamy-layer seat
  • Disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs claim under the 3 per cent horizontal quota
  • Address proof where the Right to Education quota is used

The steps, in order

  1. 1.Check that you are applying to the right Yeshwanthpur school; the IISc campus in the same locality is a separate Kendriya Vidyalaya under affiliation 800012 and runs to Class 12.
  2. 2.Accept that this school ends at Class 10 and plan the transfer that follows.
  3. 3.Telephone for seat information, because the vacancy table cannot be reached online.
  4. 4.Register online in the advertised window for Class 1.
  5. 5.For Class 9, sit the sangathan's written test, a single three-hour paper across five subjects.
  6. 6.The priority order, the reservation percentages and the Right to Education route are set out at /regulators/kvs.

Academics

What is taught, and which languages are on offer

Streams at Class 11 and 12

There are none. CBSE's register affiliates this school at secondary level, so the highest class taught is Class 10 and the only board examination sat here is the Class 10 one. No Science, Commerce or Humanities stream exists. Pupils completing Class 10 move to a senior secondary school, and within the Kendriya Vidyalaya system that means applying to another campus with a Class 11 vacancy, which in Bengaluru is a competitive proposition at most of the larger schools.

Languages

Beyond Hindi, which is taught system-wide, nothing can be stated. Language provision is published on each school's own pages and this school's pages could not be loaded. The question is arguably less pressing at a secondary-level campus, since the third-language choice that Kendriya Vidyalayas make at Class 6 still applies but the senior-level language options do not, but it should still be put to the office.

What it is known for

The highest affiliation number and KV code of any Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Bengaluru register, its position in the railway colony beside Yeshwanthpur station, and secondary-level affiliation ending at Class 10.

Second languages listed for this school

Language options are set by the school and can differ between year groups. Confirm the combination for your child’s entry grade in writing before accepting a seat. Full list across every school: filter schools by second language.

For teachers

Teaching jobs at KV Railway Yeshwanthpur

Roles this kind of school hires for

  • Trained Graduate Teachers, the backbone grade at a school teaching to Class 10
  • Primary teachers across the lower classes
  • Specialist posts in art, music, work education and physical education, which the sangathan sanctions at most campuses
  • Librarian, at Level 7 alongside the Trained Graduate Teacher grade
  • Contractual teachers appointed locally against unfilled sanctioned posts

When hiring actually runs

A school without Classes 11 and 12 recruits differently: Post Graduate Teacher posts barely feature and the demand concentrates on Trained Graduate and Primary Teacher grades. Contractual hiring is arranged by the school around the April opening of the session. Regular posts come only through Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's national recruitment, notified centrally when the sangathan holds a drive.

Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.

Pay, plainly

Pay is set nationally and does not vary with the level of the school, so a Trained Graduate Teacher here is on the same Level 7 scale of 44,900 to 1,42,400 rupees as one at a senior secondary campus, and a Primary Teacher on the same Level 6 scale of 35,400 to 1,12,400. Librarians share Level 7; Senior Secretariat Assistants sit at Level 4 on 25,500 to 81,100 and Junior Secretariat Assistants at Level 2 on 19,900 to 63,200. Post Graduate Teacher posts at Level 8 are unlikely at a campus with no senior secondary section. Contractual engagements are on unpublished terms.

We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

Questions parents ask

KV Railway Yeshwanthpur, honestly answered

Is this the Kendriya Vidyalaya inside the IISc campus?

No. Two Kendriya Vidyalayas carry Yeshwanthpur in their address. The IISc campus school holds affiliation 800012 and runs to Class 12. This one is in the railway colony near the station under affiliation 800155 and stops at Class 10. Check the number before applying.

Does the school teach Classes 11 and 12?

No. CBSE affiliates it at secondary level, so Class 10 is the highest class and the Class 10 board examination is the only one sat here. Every pupil transfers to a senior secondary school afterwards, which in the Kendriya Vidyalaya system means applying to another campus with a Class 11 seat.

Why is there no detail about sections or facilities?

The school's website could not be loaded on 16 September 2026, despite repeated attempts over both HTTPS and HTTP. The domain resolved correctly and the connection then stalled every time. Section counts, roll, staffing and founding year live only there, so none appears here.

Is the school new?

Probably comparatively recent. Its affiliation number, 800155, is the highest of any Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Bengaluru register, where the others cluster between 800001 and 800040, and its KV code of 2418 is likewise the highest. The actual founding year is on the school's own site and could not be read.

What will it cost?

500 rupees a month from Class 1 for the development fund, 600 from Class 3 when the computer fund is added, and 800 in Classes 9 and 10 once tuition of 200 a month starts. Admission is 25 rupees once. There are no senior secondary rates because there is no senior secondary section.

Who is the principal?

C Valmiki, according to both CBSE's register and the sangathan's directory. The two registers disagree about the head at several other Kendriya Vidyalayas in this set, so agreement here is a good sign that the entry is up to date.

Where exactly is it?

In the railway colony at Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru 560022, which CBSE's register places near the railway station. The office number listed in the sangathan's directory is 080 23372277.

Could it be upgraded to Class 12 later?

Sanctions do change, and Kendriya Vidyalayas are upgraded from secondary to senior secondary level from time to time. But nothing in either register indicates that is imminent here, and a family should plan around the school as it is currently affiliated rather than around an upgrade.
