PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, AFS Jalahalli East, Bengaluru
A fifteen-acre air force campus at Jalahalli East, in its current building since 1995, and one of the very few KV sites that names the actual subject combinations it runs at Class 12.
No published inspection grade
KVS has not published a grade we can link to for this school, so none is printed here. Ask the school which inspection year its last report covers.

What this school actually is, and who governs it
The useful thing about this school's own description is that it goes past adjectives and into subject codes. Most Kendriya Vidyalaya pages say Science and Commerce and stop. This one states the combinations: Science with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology plus Hindi or Computer Science, and Commerce with Informatics Practices, Mathematics or Hindi, offered at the All India Senior School Certificate Examination. For a family choosing between two campuses on the same side of the city, knowing whether Computer Science is a live option at Class 11 is exactly the kind of fact that decides it, and here it is published rather than guessed.
The campus sits inside Air Force Station Jalahalli East on what the school describes as roughly fifteen acres, and it has been in its present building since 1995 although the school itself dates from 1983. That makes it the younger of the two Jalahalli Kendriya Vidyalayas by nineteen years; the No. 1 school on the west station goes back to 1964. Both are defence-sector schools, which means the same admission priority order applies at each, so a family eligible at one is eligible at the other and can reasonably apply to both.
Section counts here are three, not four or five. The school's own table gives three parallel sections in every class from Class 1 to Class 10, and its genesis page adds three sections at Class 11 and three at Class 12. Average enrolment per section runs from about 40 in the primary years to 56 in Class 8 and 55 in Class 9, so the upper middle school is where the rooms are fullest. At the last reading no fresh seats were shown anywhere from Class 1 to Class 10.
Three of the school's own pages give three different rolls, which is worth stating plainly rather than papering over. The genesis page says the strength is about 1,700 with a staff of 57. The principal's message says 1,654 pupils and a staff of 60. The homepage counter says 768 boys and 733 girls, totalling 1,501, with 37 teaching and 2 non-teaching staff. The counter is the most recently maintained of the three and the staffing table supports the lower staff figure, but none of this has been independently audited and a parent who needs an exact number should ask the office. A related sign of a page not being refreshed: the deputy commissioner named in the message block on this site is not the officer named on the other Bengaluru Kendriya Vidyalaya sites.
Facilities are listed in more detail than usual. The school records separate laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, junior science, mathematics, computing and language; three computer laboratories on broadband, with computers also placed in the primary and secondary staff rooms; two LCD projectors in dedicated rooms for technology-aided learning; and, on the sports side, a sports room, a football ground, a basketball court, a kho-kho court and a general play area. It also names the games it coaches specifically, which is volleyball, basketball, kho-kho and athletics. The staffing table is less comfortable reading: eleven Primary Teachers against seventeen sanctioned, two of three TGT Mathematics posts vacant since April 2025, two of three TGT Social Science posts open since May 2022, both TGT Sanskrit posts empty since May 2020 and one of two PGT Chemistry posts unfilled since March 2025.
Licensing, inspection and complaints sit with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The syllabus, the exams and the certificate come from CBSE, which is a different body answering different questions.
What it costs, and where that number comes from
We print the published schedule or we print nothing. No ranges, no averages, no “approximately” - a parent who budgets against an invented figure finds out at the counter.
2026-27 tuition, by grade
Published schedule| Grade | Annual tuition (INR) |
|---|---|
| Class 9 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 10 tuition, per month | 200 |
| Class 11 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 11 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Class 12 Commerce or Humanities tuition, per month | 300 |
| Class 12 Science tuition, per month | 400 |
| Computer fund from Class 3, per month | 100 |
| Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, per month | 500 |
| Admission fee, one time | 25 |
The schedule above is national. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan sets it and every one of its schools charges it, so comparing fees between two Kendriya Vidyalayas is a waste of an afternoon. It was read from the sangathan's fee-structure page on 16 September 2026 and has not been re-fetched since, that host having stopped responding; the figures are good as of that date and should be confirmed at the counter. What varies between families is not the schedule but the exemptions: girls in Classes 6 to 12 pay no tuition, nor do Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe children, children of sangathan employees, or children admitted against the 25 per cent Right to Education quota, whose exemption runs to Class 8. Everyone else pays nothing in tuition to Class 8 anyway, and then 200 rupees a month at Classes 9 and 10, with the Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi of 500 rupees a month sitting alongside throughout.

Fee increases are governed by KVS, not by the school, and that is also where a fee dispute goes.
Getting a seat
Age and timing
The Class 1 rule is six years complete on 31 March of the admission year, under eight, with 1 April birthdays treated as inside. The guidelines set a matching two-year band for each class up to Class 10, all measured on the same date. No Kendriya Vidyalaya may relax these locally.
Registration for Class 1 happens online during a window announced by advertisement, against a schedule the Bengaluru Regional Office issues. For Classes 2 to 12 there is no window as such; there is only whatever the vacancy table shows, and at the last reading it showed nothing free from Class 1 to Class 10.
What to have ready
- Birth record establishing eligibility under the age band
- Service and transfer documents for the parent whose employment supports the priority claim
- Transfer certificate from the previous school for any class above the first
- Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC non-creamy-layer certificate where a reserved seat is claimed
- Disability certificate for a Child with Special Needs seat under the 3 per cent horizontal quota
- Proof of address where the application is made under the Right to Education quota
The steps, in order
- 1.Read the sangathan's priority order before anything else; at a station school it decides more than the application itself does.
- 2.Apply online for Class 1 inside the advertised window, since counter applications are not taken for that class.
- 3.For Classes 2 to 10 here, treat the vacancy table as the gatekeeper and check it before making a trip.
- 4.For Class 9, sit the written test the sangathan prescribes for that entry point.
- 5.For Class 11, confirm which of the published combinations, including Computer Science and Informatics Practices, will actually run in the year you are applying for.
- 6.Everything shared across all Kendriya Vidyalayas, from reservation percentages to the RTE rules, is collected at /regulators/kvs.

What is taught, and which languages are on offer
Streams at Class 11 and 12
Science and Commerce, and unusually the school names the combinations. Science is offered with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology alongside Hindi or Computer Science. Commerce is offered with Informatics Practices, Mathematics or Hindi. Three sections run at Class 11 and three at Class 12 by the school's own account. There is no Humanities stream here, which distinguishes it from the ASC Centre and MEG campuses across the city.
Languages
Hindi runs and is named inside the senior subject combinations, which is a stronger signal than a subject list. Sanskrit is sanctioned with two Trained Graduate Teacher posts, but the school records both as vacant since May 2020, so a family counting on Sanskrit at Class 6 should ask how it is currently being taught. A language laboratory is listed among the facilities. Kannada is not mentioned on any page reached.
What it is known for
Publishing its actual Class 11 and 12 subject combinations, a fifteen-acre station campus, and named coaching in volleyball, basketball, kho-kho and athletics.

Teaching jobs at KV No. 2 Jalahalli
Roles this kind of school hires for
- TGT Mathematics, two of three sanctioned posts vacant since April 2025
- TGT Social Science, two of three posts open since May 2022
- TGT Sanskrit, both sanctioned posts empty since May 2020
- PGT Chemistry, one of two posts unfilled since March 2025
- Primary Teachers, eleven in post against seventeen sanctioned
- Music teacher at primary level, and the administrative posts of Assistant Section Officer and Senior Secretariat Assistant, all recorded as vacant
When hiring actually runs
The pattern at Kendriya Vidyalayas is two separate tracks, and at this campus the local one matters more than usual given how many posts stand open. Contractual and part-time appointments are made by the school in the weeks around the start of the session in April, with notices going up on its own site. Regular appointments happen only when the sangathan runs a national recruitment, which it does on its own schedule and not annually.
Before anyone interviews you, the paperwork is KVS’s teacher licensing route, not the school’s.
Pay, plainly
Regular posts sit on the 7th Central Pay Commission matrix, published by Kendriya Vidyalayas as part of their disclosure obligations: Primary Teacher Level 6 at 35,400 to 1,12,400 rupees, Trained Graduate Teacher Level 7 at 44,900 to 1,42,400, Post Graduate Teacher Level 8 at 47,600 to 1,51,100, Vice Principal Level 10, Principal Level 12, and Junior Secretariat Assistant Level 2 at 19,900 to 63,200. Locally appointed contractual teachers are paid separately and those rates are not published.
We list no vacancies of our own for other schools - the link goes to the employer, so nothing here can go stale on a teacher.

KV No. 2 Jalahalli, honestly answered
Which subject combinations run at Class 11 here?
The school publishes them. Science comes with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology plus either Hindi or Computer Science. Commerce comes with Informatics Practices, Mathematics or Hindi. Three sections run at Class 11 and three at Class 12. There is no Humanities stream on this campus.
How is this different from KV No. 1 Jalahalli?
Different station, different school. No. 1 is at Jalahalli West, dates from 1964, runs four sections a year and has recently started a Humanities section. No. 2 is at Jalahalli East, dates from 1983, has been in its present building since 1995 and runs three sections a year with Science and Commerce only.
How many children are in each class?
Three sections per year from Class 1 to Class 10. The school's own averages run from about 40 a section in the primary classes to 56 in Class 8 and 55 in Class 9, so the middle school is where the rooms are fullest.
What does it cost?
Exactly what every other Kendriya Vidyalaya costs, because the schedule is national. No tuition to Class 8, 200 rupees a month at Classes 9 and 10, 300 or 400 a month at Classes 11 and 12 by stream, plus a 500 rupee monthly development fund throughout and a 100 rupee computer fund from Class 3. Admission is 25 rupees. Several categories are exempt from tuition entirely.
Is Sanskrit taught?
Two Sanskrit posts are sanctioned but the school's own staffing table records both as vacant since May 2020. That does not necessarily mean nothing is taught, since Kendriya Vidyalayas appoint contractual teachers against gaps, but it does mean a family counting on Sanskrit should ask how the subject is currently staffed.
What sports facilities are there?
The school lists a sports room, a football ground, a basketball court, a kho-kho court and a play area, and says it provides special coaching in volleyball, basketball, kho-kho and athletics. That is a more specific list than most Kendriya Vidyalaya sites publish.
Why do the school's own pages give different student numbers?
Because different pages were written at different times and none of them is audited. The genesis page says about 1,700, the principal's message says 1,654 and the homepage counter says 1,501. All three appear above. If the exact figure matters to your decision, ask the office.
How do I apply to teach here?
Regular teaching posts are filled through Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan's central recruitment when it is notified. Contractual and part-time posts are filled by the school around the opening of the session in April, and its teacher vacancy page shows which posts are sanctioned, which are filled and how long each gap has been open.
